CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel Volleyball team is set to compete in the first round of the 2023 NIVC against the East Carolina Pirates on December 1 at 6:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs head into the NIVC with a 27-3 overall record. The Citadel defeated ETSU in the quarterfinals and fell to Samford in the semifinals in the Southern Conference Volleyball Championships.
Three Broken Single Season Records
Ali Ruffin broke the season record for kills in a season,
Belle Hogan broke the season record for assists, and
Jaelynn Elgert broke the record for the most digs.
Bula Named to SoCon All-Tournament Team
Kathleen Bula was named to the 2023 Southern Conference All-Tournament Team after recording 16 kills on 31 attempts for a .355 attack percentage.
NIVC Play
This marks the first time the Bulldogs have been selected to play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
Scouting East Carolina
The Pirates finished the season with a 20-10 overall and 11-8 American Athletic Conference Record. ECU won their last match against UTSA, 3-1. The Pirates are led by outside hitter Angeles Alderete, who had 348 kills, averaging 3.11 kills per set. ECU has six players with over 100 kills for the season. Lara Uyar led the Pirates with 346 digs. In their last matchup, East Carolina defeated The Citadel 3-0 in 2017.
