Soccer Announces Signees

The Citadel head women's soccer Coach Ciaran Traquair has announced the signing of 11 newcomers who will join the Bulldogs for the 2023 season.
 
"We are excited to add the 10 newcomers and their families to The Citadel," said Traquair. "I have every faith this group will continue pushing the boundaries and improve our team. Every player coming in has the potential to impact our team and enhance the product we put out on the field. Each year we are challenged to grow and to get better. I fully believe this group will continue moving us forward."
 
Ariana Paez, F, 5-2, Blythewood, South Carolina (Newberry)
Paez joined the Bulldogs this spring after starting 16 games at Newberry a season ago…totaled two goals and four assists in her Wolves career…logged over 3,000 minutes in three seasons…tallied a goal in a 2-1 victory over Coker last fall….before college, won state championship with South Carolina United FC and women of the club…team captain and offensive player of the year at Blythewood High School…four-year member of the honor roll.
 
Adrienne Trerotola, F, 5-6, Jacksonville, Florida (Mandarin)
Three-time All-Gateway Conference selection at Mandarin High School…finished prep career with 40 goals and 13 assists…member of the National Honor Society and A/B Honor Roll…plays for North Florida Soccier Academy…previously had stints with Jacksonville FC and Jacksonville FC ECNL…mother, Michelle, played softball at Winthrop, while father, Nicholas, played football at Army West Point.
 
Zoe Santos, GK, 5-6, Bedford, New Hampshire (Bedford)
Played prep career at Bedford High School…posted 17 shutouts in 20 games as a senior, tying for the most shutouts in a season in New Hampshire…allowed just five goals all season in helping the Bulldogs to the Division I state championship…holds school career record with 38 shutouts…varsity captain as a junior and senior…earned second-team all-state honors as a junior after helping team to a state runner-up finish…garnered first-team all-state accolades as a sophomore…four-year member of the Honor Roll and Safe Sports Ambassador…ranked as a 3-star Top Draw Soccer Athlete at NEFC Showcase in 2021…member of the Seacoast United Soccer Club…father, John, played football at UMass Dartmouth, while sister, Jori, is a member of the New Hampshire track and field team.
 
Nayeli Leon, M, 5-6, Springfield, Virginia (Lake Braddock Secondary School)
Two-time first-team all-district selection at Lake Braddock Secondary School…twice tabbed first-team all-region…school record holder for most goals…athlete of the month honoree as a junior…member of the All-A Honor Roll.
 
Reagan Wise, D, 5-4, Aldie, Virginia (Independence)
All-District and All-Region selection at Independence High School…helped team to regional championship and state runner-up finish in 2021…has a twin sister…mother, Carmen, ran cross country at Radford, while father, Brian, played one year of football at Ferrum College before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps…grandfather played football for Northern Arizona State and for the United States Marine Corps team at Quantico, also completed two combat tours…great-grandfather played semi-professional football in Chicago before enlisting in the United States Navy where he served as a Seabee in World War II.
 
Grace Wolber, D, 5-7, Cincinnati, Ohio (Cincinnati)
Spent the previous three years at Cincinnati…appeared in 15 games as a junior, logging 837 minutes…lone goal was the game-winner in the season finale against UCF…also added an assist…made first two career starts in the AAC Tourney during the 2020-21 season…began career at Kent State…selected to the All-MAC Freshman Team after starting 14 matches…scored first career goal against Youngstown State…helped Wyoming High School to three district finals appearances…earned First-Team All-CHL, All-SW Ohio and Second Team All-State honors as a senior…named Second-Team All-CHL the previous three seasons…registered 25 goals and 13 assists in her career, including 12 goals as a senior…father, Jeff, played basketball at Oral Roberts, while mother, Amy, played basketball at Northern Kentucky.
 
Ellie Beicher, M, 5-9, Bowling Green, Kentucky (Western Kentucky)
Spent the previous four seasons at Western Kentucky…logged over 2800 minutes in her Hilltopper career…appeared in 46 games, making 27 starts…scored two goals and had an assist…scored both goals during freshman season…named to the 2020-21 Conference USA All-Freshman Team…also a member of the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll…played prep soccer at Greenwood High School…earned first-team all-state and all-region honors in leading the Gators to the state championship as a senior…selected the MVP of the all-district tournament…played with Kentucky ODP from 2016-18, while also playing for Nashville United Soccer Academy.
 
Nicoletta Anuci, M, 5-4, Dayton, Ohio (Eastern Illinois)
Spent the previous four years at Eastern Illinois…appeared in 60 games, with 29 starts…totaled six goals and three assists for 15 points…ranked third on the team in shots with 21 as a senior…recorded an assist in a victory over Illinois State…second on the team in points as a junior…scored two goals in victory over Illinois Springfield…tied for team lead with two goals as a sophomore…played at Archbishop Alter High School…helped team capture Ohio State Division II state championship as a sophomore…team advanced to Region 8 Championship match as a senior…four-time all-state selection…finished career with 46 goals…United Soccer Coaches High School All-American in 2018…played club for CDA Premier.
 
Maya Johnson, D, 5-9, Portland, Oregon (St. Mary's Academy)
Played prep career at St. Mary's Academy…earned second-team all-league honors as a senior…two-year Scholar Athlete…honorable mention All-Three Rivers League selection as a sophomore…played for Portland Thorns Academy ECNL
 
Sam Grantham, M, 5-7, Apple Valley California (Granite Hills)
Played prep career at Granite Hills High School…three-time Desert Sky League Player of the Year…four-time Desert Sky League Champion…led league in goals and points for three consecutive years…scored 31 goals and collected 12 assists as a senior…also lettered in cross country/track and field and tennis…four-year member of the High Honor Roll…played club for Arsenal FC ECNL and Victor Valley College.
 
Olivia Rhodes, F, 5-8, Friendswood, Texas (University of the South)
Played previous four seasons at the University of the South…appeared in 43 games in her career…finished with eight goals and four assists…named a United Soccer Coaches All-Region VI Third Team selection after recording six goals and two assists as a junior…also selected First-Team All-SAA and United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region…scored in only appearance during shortened COVID-19 season…member of the all-academic team as a freshman…played four seasons at Friendswood High School…garnered District MVP and County Player of the Year after finishing senior season with 47 goals and 35 assists…member of the National Honor Society and the UIL Academic All-State Team.
