ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team were minutes from a 1-0 road win at Winthrop on Sunday evening, but the Eagles earned a corner kick in the 89^th minute before subsequently scoring directly off the corner to salvage a 1-1 tie.

How It Happened:

8'   – Maggie Melogy's shot off a corner kick was blocked 
23' – After a throw in the Bulldogs' defensive third, Ariana Paez ran down Samantha Grantham's long pass before beating the goalkeeper on the far side to put CIT ahead, 1-0.
43' -  Alexis Haire tried to give CIT a two-goal advantage at the break but her attempt sailed high and right of the frame.
49' – The Bulldogs kept the pressure up early in the second half as Melogy's attempt from outside the 18' missed high.
60' – Grantham tried to score a goal of her own, but the Winthrop keeper handled her low shot.
65' – An Eagles' free kick attempt traveled too far, as Bulldogs' goalkeeper Nora Sampson handled it with ease.
78' – Paez took back-to-back corner kicks, but the defense deflected the first one out before the goalkeeper caught the second attempt to keep it a 1-0 game.
87' – An Eagles' through ball from just inside midfield was played aggressively and handled well by Sampson with a Winthrop defender lurking inside the box.
89' – Ryleigh Jenkins blocked an Eagles' shot from the left side of the box out of play, but the ensuing corner kick sailed directly into the far side of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
