The Bulldogs Sweep in Straight Sets
The Citadel swept both Marshall and Bethune-Cookman on Friday, Aug. 25 at the Bash at the Beach.
Ruffin and Hogan Honored at Bash at the Beach
Ali Ruffin was named the Tournament MVP to the All-Tournament Team after recording 36 kills on 5.33 kills per set and 17 digs against both teams.
Belle Hogan was named to the All-Tournament Team after posting 77 assists, averaging 12.83 assists per set.
Elgert Earns SoCon Defensive Player of the Week
The senior Libero,
Jaelynn Elgert, recorded 28 digs and 11 assists in two matches against Marshall and Bethune-Cookman at the Bash at the Beach on Aug. 25; she averaged 4.67 digs per set.
She recorded 14 digs and three assists against Marshall in a straight-set victory and 14 digs and eight assists in a 3-0 win against Bethune-Cookman.
Bulldogs Rank in the NCAA
After a weekend of play, The Citadel ranks first in the NCAA in kills per set at 17.17 and first in Assists Per Set at 16.33.
Zelenock Earns 100th Career Victory
Head coach
Dave Zelenock earned 100th career victory during the doubleheader sweep over Marshall and Bethune-Cookman.
Scouting College of Charleston
The Cougars are 1-2 overall, with a win against Le Moyne and defeats against Davidson and West Virginia at the CofC Classic last weekend. Outsider Hitter Anna Smith leads the Cougars with 38 kills, averaging 3.45 kills per set. Chandler Manusky holds down the defense for the College of Charleston with 41 digs on 3.73 digs per set. The Citadel lost in straight sets 0-3 in the most recent matchup against the Cougars.
