Volleyball Set for Jacksonville Invitational


 CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel Volleyball team is set to compete in the Jacksonville Invitational against Florida A&M, Jacksonville, and Northern Arizona on September 1st and 2nd.

Bulldogs Off to a Great Start
The Citadel Bulldogs have opened the 2023 season with a 3-0 overall record, matching the best start in program history since 2011, when the Bulldogs started the season 3-0.
 
Bulldogs in Double Figures
The Citadel defeated cross-town rival, the College of Charleston Cougars, on Aug. 28. Ali Ruffin posted a double-double with 20 kills and 18 digs. Mackenzie Martin recorded 15 kills, and Maddy Cardenas had 12 kills.
 
Hogan Dishing the Ball
Setter Belle Hogan continues to create opportunities on the offensive side for the Bulldogs as she has recorded 120 assists in three matches, averaging 12.00 assists per set. She ranks top-five nationally with assists per set.
 
Scouting Florida A&M
The Rattlers have started the season 0-3 with losses against Austin Peay State, University of Buffalo, and UAB. Outside Hitter Brooks Lynn Watts leads the Rattlers with 49 kills, and Brooke Hudson holds down the defensive with 62 digs. The Citadel defeated Florida A&M in five sets in 2019 in the last matchup.
 
Scouting Jacksonville
The Dolphins are 1-2 to start the 2023 season with a win against California Baptist and losses against Santa Clara and San Jose State. Jenna McNamara leads the Dolphins with 34 kills, and Kristina Nika leads them with 28 digs. The Citadel was defeated by Jacksonville, 0-3, in their last match-up in 2007.
 
Scouting Northern Arizona
The Lumberjacks have begun the season 2-1 with wins over Tarleton State and UAPB. Hannah Stoddard leads Northern Arizona with 42 kills and Millie O'Ketter with 57 digs. The two teams have faced each other twice, and Northern Arizona has come out victorious both times with their recent win in 2012.
