Bulldogs Undefeated in Non-Conference
The Citadel volleyball team is still unbeaten, with a 9-0 record going into the weekend. They are among the nine teams in the country that have won nine games and have zero losses.
NCAA Rankings
Ali Ruffin sits fourth in the country with 5.09 kills per set,
Angelina Sayles ranks eighth in aces per set with .069, and
Belle Hogan ranks 15th in assists per set with 11.03.
The Bulldogs rank ninth overall with kills per set with 14.50, 12th in assists per set with 13.25, and 16th in aces per set with 2.17.
Ruffin and Hogan Named as the SoCon Players of the Week
Ali Ruffin was selected as the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording 47 kills on a .288 attack percentage at the Queens Fall Classic. She averaged 5.22 kills per set.
Belle Hogan was named the Setter of the Week, posting 109 assists, averaging 12.11 assists per set.
Scouting Florida A&M
FAMU heads into the weekend with a 2-7 overall record with a recent loss over Georgia Tech. The Rattlers are led by Brooke Lynn Watts, who has 126 kills, averaging 3.41 per set. Defensively, Brooke Hudson leads FAMU with 196 digs. The Bulldogs were victorious over FAMU at the Bash at the Beach in a 5-set thriller on Sept. 1.
Scouting South Carolina State
South Carolina State is 0-10 on the season. Eleisha Thompson leads SC State with 58 kills, and Miya Benson leads the team with 66 digs. The Citadel defeated SC State in straight sets at the Queens Fall Classic on Sept. 9.
Scouting Charleston Southern
The Buccaneers are 5-6 for the 2023 season, with recent losses to Middle Tennessee State, Auburn, and Mercer. Giada Pais Marden leads the Bucs with 90 kills, and Angelika Rusin leads the defense with 147 digs.
