Bulldogs Best Start in History
The Citadel Bulldogs have started the season 6-0, the best start in program history.
Ali Ruffin is leading the team with 116 kills.
Belle Hogan leads with 243 assists, and
Jaelynn Elgert leads the defense with 110 digs.
Award Winners for The Citadel
Ali Ruffin was selected as the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after her impressive performance against the College of Charleston and at the Jacksonville Invitational.
Ruffin was selected as the MVP of the Jacksonville Invitational;
Maddy Cardenas and
Jaelynn Elgert were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Hogan Surpasses 2,000 Assists
Junior Setter
Belle Hogan passed 2,000 assists during the Jacksonville Invitational. She currently sits in fifth all-time in program history.
Scouting Queens
The Royals are 2-4 overall with a recent win over Northern Illinois at the Davidson Tournament. Alleigh Johnson is leading Queens with 45 kills, and Jesse George is holding down the defense with 103 digs. This will be the first match-up against both teams since Queens joined Division I.
Scouting UNC Asheville
UNC Asheville is 3-4 to start the 2023 season. Asheville dropped three matches against Furman in the doubleheader and Western Carolina. Matilde Teixeria leads the team with 62 kills, and Michelle Thao leads the defense with 54 digs. The Citadel lost to UNC Asheville in their last match-up in 2018
Scouting South Carolina State
SC State is 0-7 overall to start the season, with recent losses to Wofford, Elon, and SC Upstate. Eleisha Thompson leads SC State with 41 kills, and Miya Benson leads the defense with 53 digs. The Citadel defeated SC State, 3-0, in their last match-up in 2021.
