Volleyball to Finish SoCon Regular Season at Furman and Samford

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team (14-11,8-6) is set to finish the Southern Conference regular season the road against Furman (12-12, 6-7) on November 15 and then at Samford (13-11, 7-7) on November 16.

Notes on the Bulldogs
  • The Citadel volleyball team heads into the final weekend of the regular season with a 14-11 overall and 9-6 SoCon record. The Bulldogs beat ETSU and Chattanooga in four sets this past weekend.
  • The Bulldogs are ranked second in the country in digs per set with 18.81
  • Setter Belle Hogan was named the Southern Conference Setter of the Week for the first time in the 2024 season. It is her seventh all-time in her career as a Bulldog.
  • Jaelynn Elgert moved to second all-time in career digs with 1,463. Kenzie Kellerman holds the record with 1,532.
  • Mackenzie Martin recorded a career-high six aces in a four-set win over ETSU.
 
Scouting Furman
The Paladins are 12-12 overall and 6-7 in the SoCon. Furman is 4-1 in their last five matches, with wins over Western Carolina, Chattanooga, Mercer, and Samford and a loss to Chattanooga on Tuesday. Offensively, the Paladins are led by Chandler Parker with 256 kills, averaging 2.84 per set. Ava Augustson is second on the team with 207 kills, averaging 2.30 per set. Defensively, Kennedy Seekford anchors the defense with 403 digs, averaging 4.48 per set. Genevieve Perry leads the team with 63.0 total blocks. The Bulldogs won the first match against Furman this season 3-1.
 
Scouting Samford
Samford is 13-11 overall and 7-7 in conference match play. The Bulldogs are on a three-match losing streak with losses against ETSU, Furman, and Mercer. Samford will face UNCG on Friday before playing The Citadel on Saturday. Offensively, Kaleigh Meritt leads the Bulldogs with 317 kills, averaging 3.56 per set. Gracie Lynn Butler ranks second on the team with 290 kills, averaging 3.19 per set. Defensively, Kate Morgan leads the team with 354 digs, averaging 3.89 per set. Kate Wonus leads the team with 73.0 total blocks on the season. Samford took the first match against The Citadel 3-0.
