Soccer Adds Six Newcomers for 2025

11/20/2024 3:15:00 PM

The Citadel Head Soccer Coach Ciaran Traquair has announced the signing of six newcomers who will join the Bulldogs for the 2025 season.

"This class has good energy and will make us a deeper as a program," said Coach Traquair.  "I'm excited to get them here and to see them compete for us on the field. All the girls fit who we are and will be great additions to our campus. We look forward to seeing them impact our team and helping us grow as a group in 2025."

Lizzy Passwater, GK, Owasso, Oklahoma
Originally slated to join the Bulldogs ahead of the 2024 season, Passwaters took a gap year this season to recover from a torn ACL.  An ECNL Girls Texas All-Conference selection, she was also a 2024 High School All-State Honorable Mention and 2x All-District selection. A member of the U.S. U16 GNT Camp roster in 2021, Passwaters chose The Citadel because of its rich history, academic excellence and focus on developing leaders.

Aliah Stevens, Outside Back/Midfielder, Katy, Texas (Katy HS)
A 3x First Team All-District selection, Stevens will compete for the open outside back positions due to the graduations of Belcher and Tufts. She can also play in the midfield and scored the only goal of the season against the eventual Texas State Champions. Stevens chose The Citadel because she wanted to attend a military school and be challenged both academically and athletically.

Nina Markie, Forward/Midfielder, Baltimore, MD (Leonardtown), St. Mary's Ryken HS
A 4x Washington Catholic Athletic Conference All Conference honoree, Markie is combo player who can play up top and in the midfield. She also had the opportunity to go to Spain and play futsal. Markie chose The Citadel due to the disciplined atmosphere and unified energy on campus.

Gabi Macer, M, Atlanta, Ga., West Forsyth High School
Two-time State Champion and Second Team All-Region selection, Macer will compete in the midfield and likes to jump into the offensive attack. She made the game-winning penalty kick goal in the 2024 7A State Championship game. Macer chose The Citadel because she wants to enlist in the military after graduation and wants the structure the school offers.

Annaka Boyd, D, Raleigh, N.C., Millbrook High School
A member of two Conference Championship teams, due in part to her proficiency in penalty kicks, Boyd will help the Bulldogs in the midfield. Individually, she was an All-Region and All-Conference selection while also excelling academically, earning All-Conference honors as well. Boyd chose The Citadel for an opportunity to play soccer at a high level at a military college.

Sarah Wethington, GK, Lexington, KY., Lexington Catholic High School
A three-time 2A Kentucky State and a First-Team All-State selection, Wethington will add some height to Coach Traquair's goalkeeping situation as she stands tall in goal at 5'9. She played for a successful high school program at Lexington Catholic, as they were four-time District Champions and three-time Regional Champions. Sarah chose The Citadel because it will push her past her limits of what she thought she could achieve.
