CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel basketball team opens Southern Conference play on Thursday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Chattanooga at McAlister Field House.
 
The Bulldogs, attempting to extend their home court winning streak to seven games, are also looking to halt a three-game skid to the Mocs in the league opener for both teams.
 
The game will feature a holiday themed giveaway for KIDet Club members as well as visits from Spike-a Claus and the South Carolina Corps of Cadets Holiday Cart Parade.
 
The Bulldogs (4-4) have not only been sparked the play of their starters, but have also received a huge lift from the play of Jake Wright.
 
Wright has come off the bench to knock down 12 3-pointers for The Citadel including a season-high six in the seven-point win over Navy last Saturday. Wright, who recently became the fifth Bulldog freshman to hit at least six treys in their first year since 2000, has placed himself in unique company.
 
Wright is looking to match the starts of sharpshooters Mark Huppe (Missouri-Kansas City, 2005-06) and Bruce Horan (Butler, 2002-03) as the first freshmen, since 1996-97 season, to hit at least 30 3-pointers before knocking down their first field goal (courtesy Stats Inc.).
 
Chattanooga (4-5), looking to carry over the momentum from a recent victory over Montreat, is in search of its first win of the season on an opponent's home court. The Mocs are led offensively by Casey Jones (15.0 ppg / 6.4 rpg) and defensively by the efforts of Justin Tuoyo (24 blocks).
