EAST LANSING, MICH. - The Citadel basketball team completes a two-game in two-day stretch when it squares off against Michigan State on Monday at 6 p.m. in the Jack Breslin Student Events Center.
Â
The game, which is being broadcast on
Big Ten Network with Will Tieman and Matt Steigenga calling the action, marks the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs since Nov. 12, 2006.
Â
The Bulldogs (4-6) are in search of a victory against an NCAA power conference opponent for the first time since they downed South Carolina, 88-87, in the 1988-89 campaign. The Citadel is also looking to snap a 18-game losing skid on an opponents' home floor that began on Feb. 23, 2013 at Presbyterian.
Â
The Dogs are coming off a three-point setback to Virginia Tech on Saturday. Despite being unable to find its touch from the field, hitting just 21-of-62 (33.9%), The Citadel's 13 3-point field goals were the 10th-most in program history.
Â
In that contest,
Ashton Moore scored a game-high 27 points as he improved his overall season scoring average to 17.1 ppg.
P.J. Horgan added to his defensive numbers with three blocks as he extended his career-long streak to seven games, the fourth-longest by a Bulldog this century.
Â
Michigan State (8-4) had a three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday following a 71-64 overtime loss to Texas Southern. The Spartans are led offensively by the combination of Danzel Valentine (14.2 ppg), Travis Trice (13.5), Branden Dawson (10.8) and Bryn Forbes (10.4).
Â
Along with the Big Ten broadcast the game can be heard on
Sportsradio 1450 with play-by-play announcer Mike Legg making the call for the Bulldogs.
