CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel basketball team makes a quick turnaround in Southern Conference action when it heads to Mercer on Saturday to take on the Bears for the first time as a SoCon foe at 4 p.m.

The game, which is being broadcast on ESPN3 with Dave Mathews and Kevin Canevari calling the action, marks the first meeting between the two programs since Dec. 9, 1970.

The Citadel (7-8, 2-2 SoCon) is looking to win three straight in league play since head coach Chuck Driesell's first year at the helm in 2010-11. The Dogs are also in search of their first 3-2 record in the SoCon since the 2004-05 campaign when they earned wins over Western Carolina, Georgia Southern and Wofford.

The Cadets are seeking their second straight road win in league play for the first time since the 2010-11 season when they emerged with wins at Samford and Davidson.

Mercer (8-9, 3-1 SoCon) is 5-1 at Hawkins Arena this season with NCAA Division I wins against Rice, VMI and Bethune-Cookman. The Bears are lead in scoring by Ike Nwamu (16.3 ppg) and rebounding by T.J. Hallice (6.3 rpg).

Along with the ESPN3 broadcast the game can also be heard on Fox Radio Sports 1450 with play-by-play announcer Mike Legg making the call for the Bulldogs.
