CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team continues its busy early slate on Thursday. The Bulldogs will play their third game in six days to begin the 2015-16 campaign when they host Mid-Atlantic Christian at McAlister Field House at 6 p.m. After Thursday's contest, The Citadel (1-1) heads to Big South foe Presbyterian for a Saturday night clash in Clinton, South Carolina.
Â
The Bulldogs are coming off a nail-biting 94-93 win over Stetson that gave The Citadel its first win of the season. Senior
Derrick Henry poured in a game-high 25 points to help Baucom earn his first victory since taking over the program.
Â
Baucom's frenetic pace is already settling in at McAlister Field House. The Citadel's 94 points were the most since Nov. 23, 2013 and the most against a Division I opponent since a 103-100 loss to VMI to open the 2011-12 campaign. The Bulldogs have also racked up at least 40 points in a half three times through two games already this season. The Citadel scored 40 or more points in a half only nine times in 30 games in 2014-15.
Â
Mid-Atlantic Christian is the first of three non-Division I opponents on the Bulldogs' 2015-16 schedule. The Citadel played three non-D1 opponents last season and won each game by an average margin of 27.7 points.
Â
Baucom's squad will then hit the road for its fourth game in eight days as the Bulldogs take on Presbyterian College on Saturday. The Citadel is 47-23 all-time against Presbyterian, winning 11 of the past 12 meetings. That game, which tips off at 7 p.m., will be streamed live for free on the Big South Network.
