CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel basketball team completes a brief two-game homestand with a meeting against UNCG on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Â
The Bulldog faithful are reminded to wear their Citadel basketball "BLUE OUT" t-shirts for free admission.
Â
Fans are encouraged to participate in the month long SoCon Hoops Against Hunger initiative by donating non-perishable items at the game.
Â
Hoops Against Hunger, in partnership with the Brad Daugherty Foundation, brings together the basketball community along with public, private, and sports organizations as well as local and national sponsors to help provide meals for students who may not have enough to eat at home during the extended holiday breaks from school.
Â
The Citadel (8-14, 3-8 SoCon) is looking to snap a five-game losing streak with a victory against the Spartans. A win would also allow the Dogs to complete a regular season sweep of UNCG for the first time since the 2008-09 campaign.
Â
The Dogs have won their last two head-to-head meetings with the Spartans, including an 85-83 overtime thriller at the Greensboro Coliseum on Jan. 5.
Â
UNCG (7-17, 3-8 SoCon) enters the game having lost four of their last five contests. In their most recent outing, against VMI, the Spartans received a game-high 20 points from Nicholas Paulos in an 85-56 victory in Lexington, Va. Paulos was joined in scoring by Marvin Smith (14 points) and Jordy Kuiper (12). Â
Â
The game can be seen live on the
Southern Conference Digital Network and can be heard on
Sports Radio 1450 with play-by-play announcer Mike Legg making the call for the Bulldogs.
