CHARLESTON, S.C.
- The Citadel basketball team (7-7, 0-1) hits the road to take on Samford (9-5, 0-1) on Tuesday for the Bulldogs' first Southern Conference game away from home. Head coach Duggar Baucom's squad looks to snap a three-game losing skid when it tips off at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN3 and Sports Radio 1450 AM tomorrow night.

The Citadel is 10-4 all-time and 4-2 on the road against Samford, winning the last three games in the series. Since 2010, The Citadel has won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two programs.

Following Saturday's loss to Chattanooga, three of the Bulldogs' seven losses have come to teams in the top 50 of the NCAA's RPI. The Citadel limited the Mocs to a season-low four three-pointers and forced 17 turnovers, but fell in a tight battle late.

After the road trip to Samford, The Citadel returns to McAlister for a three-game homestand that includes games against Mercer, Furman and defending conference champion Wofford. The homestand begins at 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Mercer.

NOTES
• Freshman Matt Frierson has played more minutes over the last three games (51) than he did in the previous eight games combined (46). Frierson scored 12 points against Chattanooga and nine points against Charlotte, all coming via seven three-pointers.
• Freshman Zane Najdawi ranks fourth in the Southern Conference in field goal percentage (56.4 percent). He scored in double figures for the fourth time this season vs. Chattanooga with 15 points in 23 minutes of action.
• Three of the Dogs' seven losses came against top 50 RPI teams (Butler, College of Charleston and Chattanooga). Those teams are a combined 32-9 this season.
• The Citadel is the only team in the nation that averages more than 90 points a game with a Division I-leading 92.0 PPG.
• Duggar Baucom is on pace to lead the NCAA in scoring for the seventh time in his past nine seasons as a Division I head coach.
• Derrick Henry ranks second in the conference in scoring with 18.9 PPG despite not ranking in the top ten in the league in minutes played per contest. He's the only player in the Southern Conference with multiple 30-point performances.
• When Henry has scored 18 points or more, the Bulldogs are 5-2. He's averaging 22 points per game over the last four games and 18 points per game at home. He leads the SoCon in total points scored (265).
• Senior Quinton Marshall is averaging 13.6 points per game while being asked to guard an opponent's best player every night. He has made at least five field goals in nine consecutive games and has recorded double digits in 11 straight games dating back to Nov. 21. The forward ranks third in the SoCon in steals per game.
• The Citadel is one of just three teams in the SoCon to have four players averaging double digits (Henry, Marshall, Warren Sledge & Brian White).
• Both Quinton Marshall (11) and Derrick Henry (14) have scored in double figures in at least 11 consecutive games.
• The Bulldogs sit atop the Southern Conference in several statistical categories, including points per game, total assists (262), assists per game (18.7), total steals (139), steals per game (9.9), turnover margin (+3.4), total field goals made (453) and three-pointers per game (11.9).
• Through 14 games, The Citadel has already racked up 1,288 points. With at least 18 games remaining, the Bulldogs are on pace to finish with almost 3,000 points, which would shatter the school record for points in a season by more than 700 points.
• Senior point guard P.J. Boutte is averaging 6.3 assists per game, which leads the SoCon. He ranks 19th among all Division I players and has racked up at least nine assists in six different games this season.
• Boutte has 88 assists through 14 games this season, which is already the most in any season during his career. He needs 91 more to break the school record for assists in a season.
