Bulldogs Take on Trinity Baptist and Florida State This Week

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team returns home Tuesday, Nov. 21 for the first game inside McAlister Field House since opening the season on Friday, Nov. 10. The Bulldogs will host Trinity Baptist in a game sponsored by Hebrew National and all kids in attendance will eat for free, receiving a hot dog, Pepsi product and box of popcorn.

Following the home tilt with the Eagles, the Bulldogs will head to Tallahassee, Florida, to take on the Seminoles of Florida State on Friday, Nov. 24.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, the Bulldogs closed out a three-game stretch on the road with a 79-77 win over High Point after trailing by as many as 15 points in the second half. Preston Parks, who led The Citadel with 18 points against the Panthers, scored his 600th career point on Saturday as he entered the contest needing just nine to match the mark. He now has 609 career points.

The Bulldogs (2-2) will start the week off against Trinity Baptist of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The Bulldogs and Eagles (3-3) have never met before on the hardwood. The Eagles are currently averaging 62.5 points per game and scored more than 70 points in just one game, a 72-51 win over Georgia Northwest Tech.

Chandler Rivers has led the team with 10.7 points per game through the first six contests and is currently shooting 53.2% (25-of-47) for the season, including hitting five three-pointers. The next highest scorer is Marquis Duncanson, averaging 9.5 points per game while shooting 36.0% (18-of-50) from the field. Duncanson leads the team with seven three-pointers on the year while Marcus Dixon leads the team with an average of 8.5 rebounds per game.

Following the game against TBC, the Bulldogs will hit the road for the final road game of the month of November, traveling to Tallahassee to take on the Seminoles (3-0). The Bulldogs and Seminoles have faced off 10 times prior to the Black Friday tilt with FSU owning an all-time record of 6-4 over The Citadel. The Seminoles have won the last five games, all in Tallahassee.

So far this season, the Seminoles have averaged 81.3 points per contest while holding their opposition to 61.0 points per game. Terrance Mann has led the way in the early going, averaging 17.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in three starts while shooting 74.2% (23-of-31) from the field. Behind him, Mfiondu Kabengele has averaged 12.3 points per game with M.J. Walker scoring 11.3 points per contest and Phil Cofer averaging 10.0 points per contest. Walker leads the team with eight made three-pointers on the season and Christ Koumadje has 11 blocks on the young season.

The Citadel will then return to Charleston for a three-game homestand beginning with the Papa John's Bulldog Bash on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2. The Bulldogs will host Army West Point, Marist and UMBC in the tournament with games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Following the Bulldog Bash, The Citadel will host James Madison on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
