CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's tennis team split a pair of matches Saturday at the Earle Tennis Center, including claiming a 9-0 win over USC Sumter in the day's second match. Earlier in the day, ETSU defeated the Bulldogs 6-1 in the final Southern Conference match of the campaign.
"First off, I feel that this was a very solid day as we started off by pushing regular-season champion for the Southern Conference ETSU. We won number-one doubles and
Gavin Stewart gave us a point with a win his singles match," said head coach
Chuck Kriese. "The matches were all hard fought and the guys are growing. I can't ask for more.
"USC Sumter competed very well, but it was really great to get our tenth victory of the year," Kriese continued. "It gives us 10 victories three years in a row and that's something to build on, especially since we will have most everybody back next year. Add in the recruiting class that is taking shape and I'm already looking forward to what the next year holds. More than anything, The Citadel tennis culture is solid and getting better each and every day. I'm hoping that we can extend the season through the SoCon Tournament."
