First Road Test Awaits Bulldogs on Saturday

FARMVILLE, Va.. – The Citadel men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season as the Bulldogs travle to Farmville, Virginia to take on Longwood on Dec. 19. Tipoff is set for 12:30 p.m.


ON THE RADIO
All games for the 2020-21 season will be carried on 102.1FM and 1450AM. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, returns for his third season behind the mic.

ESPN+
Saturday's contest against Longwood can be seen live on ESPN+. Brian Rushing and Katie Pate will be on the call.

THE HISTORY WITH LONGWOOD
The contest between the Bulldogs and the Lancers will be the third all-time meeting. The teams have met each of the last two years with the road team coming away victorious in the previous two contests.


SCOUTING THE LANCERS
The Lancers enter the contest with a record of 1-5, and an 0-2 mark in Big South Conference play. LU's lone victory came over North Carolina A&T, a team the Bulldogs also defeated this season. The Lancers are averaging 65.2 points per game and shooting 45.3% from the field. Individually, Juan Munoz leads three players in double figures, averaging 15.5 points per game. Justin Hill is averaging 11.8 points and Christian Wilson 10.0. Hill leads the team at 5.0 rebounds per game.


EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO
Saturday's contest will mark exactly one year since the two teams played a thrilling triple-overtime game in Farmville, with the Bulldogs coming away with a 102-99 victory. Kaiden Rice finished with 21 points, while Rudy Fitzgibbons, III scored 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds.


FIVE-STRAIGHT AT HOME
The 2020-21 season marks the first time the Bulldogs have started the season with five-straight home games since the 2012-13 season. They started that season 4-1. After their first five games at home, the Bulldogs spent the entire month of December on the road, playing six-straight road games.


STARTING 5-0
The victory over Carver improved the Bulldogs to 5-0 on the season for the first time since opening the 1957-58 season with victories over Newberry, Presbyterian, William & Mary (2) and Virginia Tech. It marked the 4th time in program history that The Citadel opened the season with five-straight victories.

CLARK DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Stephen Clark made the most of his first start of the season as he registered his first career double-double with 12 points and a career-best 14 rebounds.


UP NEXT
The Bulldogs return to McAlister Field House on Dec. 22 to close out non-conference action against Presbyterian. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
