The Citadel Heads Out to Face Wofford Wednesday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (January 18, 2022) - With a three-game home stand behind them, The Citadel (7-9, 1-4) heads out on the road for a SoCon meeting at Wofford (11-7, 3-3) Wednesday at 7 p.m. It will mark the Bulldogs' fourth game in seven days.

THIS WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS
Wednesday will mark The Citadel's fourth game within a one-week span. They completed a three-game home stretch over five days that featured a win over UNCG Thursday (74-69) and a pair of closely-contested battles with VMI Saturday (85-90) and Mercer Monday (64-71).

ON THE RADIO AND ESPN+
All games for the 2021-22 season will be carried on 102.1FM and 1450AM. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, returns for his fourth season behind the mic. The game can also be seen on ESPN+ with Jim Noble on play-by-play and Thom Henson on color. 

HISTORY WITH WOFFORD
Wofford holds a 62-50 lead in the all-time series and have won six of the last seven meetings. The Bulldogs and Terriers have been conference foes since 1997-98, only ever meeting twice in the postseason. Wofford won both SoCon Tournament matchups in 2014 and 2020. 

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Wofford comes off two dominating SoCon wins, beating Samford last Wednesday 87-64 and Western Carolina Saturday 84-64. BJ Mack led both games in scoring with a respective 18 and 22 points. The 6'8", 247-lbs. junior center/forward is tenth in the SoCon averaging 15.4 ppg. and second with a 56.1 field goal percentage (105-187) to bolster the Terriers to the league's best team field goal percentage at 47.8 (484-1012). 

LAST TIME OUT...
Monday, Jan. 17: Mercer 71, The Citadel 64

In what was otherwise a closely-contested game, a slow shooting night for the Bulldogs played factor in the final score, making just 36.2 percent of field goals (21-58) and only 5-of-24 threes. The Bears on the other hand made 46.3 percent (25-54) and 8-of-22 treys, including a 55.6 percent second half (15-27). Stephen Clark and Hayden Brown nearly mounted double-doubles, with Clark posting a game-high 18 points with nine rebounds and Brown 16 points and eight boards. 

ROCHE LEADS SOCON IN THREES, MINUTES PLAYED 
Freshman Jason Roche roasted the nylon Saturday versus VMI with five 3-pointers for his fifth game making at least five threes. He stands atop the SoCon averaging 3.8 made threes per game and currently seventh on the all-time list among The Citadel freshmen with 61 treys this season. The 6'5" forward also leads the conference averaging 35.6 minutes played. 

STEPHEN CLARK'S BLOCK PARTY
Stephen Clark had five blocks Monday versus Mercer, one shy of his career high, to put his season total at 45 (1st in the SoCon) and 107 for his career. He is one away from matching his season total from last year that ranks seventh all-time, and is currently fifth all-time in the school career record books.
