Basketball Returns to Action Wednesday at Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Citadel opens Southern Conference action on the road as the Bulldogs travel to face Western Carolina on Jan. 5. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

ON THE RADIO
All games for the 2021-22 season will be carried on 102.1FM and 1450AM. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, returns for his fourth season behind the mic.


HISTORY WITH WESTERN CAROLINA
The Citadel and Western Carolina are meeting for the 83rd time on the hardwood with the Catamounts holding a 44-38 advantage in the all-time series. The Bulldogs won the last two meetings a season ago after WCU won the previous seven meetings. The Citadel is just 14-25 in games played in Cullowhee.


SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Western Carolina enters the contest with an overall record of 6-7. The Catamounts have not played a game since suffering a 98-82 loss at Charlotte on Dec. 22. Nicholas Robinson leads the offense at 15.0 points per game. He is joined in double figures by Travion McCray at 11.3. Robinson is also the team's leader on the glass at 7.6 rebounds per game.


TWO-STRAIGHT WINS OVER 'CATS
The Citadel put an end to a seven-game losing streak in the series by winning the final two games a season ago. The Bulldogs won the game in Charleston, 74-63, and followed it up with a 100-86 victory in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament.
