Soccer Shuts Out Wofford to Complete Weekend Sweep

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  The Citadel made it a weekend sweep with its upstate opponents after shutting out host Wofford, 1-0, on Sunday. Ashley Frank's score in the 50th minute provided all the offense the team needed as Brie Sikes collected her second straight solo shutout win in goal following Thursday's 2-0 triumph at Furman.

  • 50' – A corner kick chance led to Ashley Frank drilling her ball to the bottom left corner off a header from Suzuka Yosue.

  • This is The Citadel's sixth shutout of the season and fifth in its last seven matches. The school record for shutouts is eight set in 2021.

  • The Bulldogs, now 3-2 in league play, sit in third place in the conference standings behind Chattanooga (4-0-1) and ETSU (3-2-1). The Citadel lost to those two by one-goal decisions.

The Citadel has two home SoCon matches this week, starting Tuesday with a makeup date against Western Carolina at 3 P.M. after their original date of Sept. 29 was postponed due to Hurricane Ian. They then host Mercer Friday at 3 P.M. All games will be played at WLI Field and broadcast on ESPN+.
