The Citadel Heads to Samford to Start Last Road Swing of Regular Season

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - The Citadel (11-15, 5-10 SoCon) makes its first visit to Samford (18-9, 8-7) in two years Monday night in hopes of a season sweep of its Bulldogs counterpart. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. Eastern Time and 7 p.m. Central Time.

All games for the 2021-22 season will be carried on 102.1FM and 1450AM. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, returns for his fourth season behind the mic. The game can be seen on ESPN+ with Curt Bloom and Boyd Kaiser on the call.

WHAT'S TRENDING
The Citadel hopes to get out of a shooting funk where they've shot 36.9 percent (38-103) the last two games, including a season-low 34.1 percent (15-44) against Wofford Wednesday.

HOT SHOOTING COOLS OFF AGAINST ETSU
The Bulldogs made 11 of their first 15 three attempts against ETSU Saturday, but only made two the rest of the way, finishing 13-of-32 on threes and 23-of-59 overall. They were held to 22 second-half points, the lowest in the Duggar Baucom era.

BROWN PULLING DOWN REBOUNDS
Forward Hayden Brown had the second-highest rebounding total of his career with 18 against ETSU Saturday, which ranks fifth all-time. Brown holds the school record for most in one game with 21 and had a pair of 17-rebound games for sixth all-time.

ROCHE'S LONG-RANGE PATH TO GLORY
Jason Roche became the first Bulldog in school history to hit at least seven 3-pointers in consecutive games, drilling seven at Furman on Feb. 2 and a career-high nine against Samford Feb. 5. His 100 triples (2nd in SoCon, 4th in NCAA) leads the NCAA Division I for freshmen and stands most all-time for a freshman in one season at The Citadel and fourth-most overall. Roche also leads the SoCon with 36.0 minutes played per game.

RISING THROUGH THE RANKS!
Jason Roche reached the century mark for threes in one season with an even 100, further cementing his school freshman record that ranks fourth all-time. Hayden Brown earned his 25th career double-double (2nd all-time) Wednesday versus ETSU, earning his second-highest game total of his career with 18 to move him into fifth all-time with 679 career boards, while his 17 points gives him 1,310 career points for 13th all-time. Stephen Clark had three blocks Saturday to add to his season total with 63 for fourth all-time and 125 career swats for fourth all-time.

TYLER MOFFE: A CAREER IN REVIEW
Making his 107th career NCAA start Saturday versus ETSU, Tyler Moffe had his second straight 20-point and third ever at The Citadel with a team-best 20 points. His 21 points against Chattanooga on Jan. 29 marked the graduate point guard's highest-scoring game since his undergrad days at Mansfield University (NCAA Div. II) when he scored 23 points at Seton Hill on Nov. 23, 2019. All told, Moffe has 1,646 career points between his one season at Jamestown C.C. (N.Y.), three at Mansfield (Pa.), and the last two with The Citadel.

HISTORY WITH SAMFORD
One of The Citadel's newest conference rivals, the "Battle of the Bulldogs" is tied even at 13-13 in the all-time series following The Citadel's 107-93 win on Feb. 5. They met only twice before Samford became SoCon members for the 2008-09 season.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Samford is riding a four-game win streak since its defeat to The Citadel on Feb. 5, beating Wofford, ETSU, VMI, and UNCG. Each of those wins were determined by no more than six points, with the Wofford and VMI games decided in overtime.
