SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Senior Suzuka Yosue was selected to the All-Southern Conference (SoCon) Women's Soccer Preseason Team in a vote by the league's coaches, as announced by the conference Thursday afternoon. The Citadel was slotted eighth in the preseason poll with 34 points.

This marks the second straight year Yosue was chosen to the All-SoCon Preseason Team. She is a three-time All-SoCon selection, becoming the first Bulldog in school history to achieve back-to-back First Team nods in 2020 and 2021. She led the SoCon in all scoring categories in 2021 with 33 points on 11 goals and 11 assists, finishing one point shy of The Citadel's season record for points. The native of Osaka, Japan currently holds the school record with 24 career assists, third with 58 career points, and tied for seventh with 17 goals.

The Bulldogs enter this fall after punching in a 10-7-2 record in 2021, marking the second-highest win total in program history and most since 2010. After beating VMI in the SoCon Tournament opening round, they took eventual league finalist Furman to overtime in the SoCon Quarterfinals.

Defending champion Samford was atop the preseason poll with 81 points and nine first-place votes. Furman earned the remaining first-place vote to rank second with 61 points. Mercer finished third with 60 points, while Western Carolina is fourth with 52 points. Chattanooga is fifth with 51 points, as UNCG took sixth with 47 points and ETSU seventh with 35 points. Wofford took ninth with 19 points and VMI tenth with ten points.
