Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Keydets Comeback in Second Half, Win 3-2

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Citadel women's soccer team held a 2-0 advantage at halftime but were unable to close out the road win as VMI scored three times in the second 45 to complete the 3-2 comeback win.

How It Happened:
3' – CIT scored early as Ariana Paez's pass to Amber Fairfax on the right wing beat the VMI goalkeeper on the far side, 1-0 Bulldogs.
21' – VMI took its third corner kick of the half, but the ensuing shot was saved by Sampson.
35' – CIT doubled its lead when Paez found Maggie Melody inside the box and she beat the goalie on the right side to make it 2-0 Bulldogs.
50' – The Keydets got one early into the second to trim the margin in half.
55' – Fairfax looked for her second marker of the game minutes later but her shot to the bottom, right of the frame was turned away.
71' – VMI knotted the match at 2-2.
82' – Didi Turay's shot missed wide to the right.
83' – Moment later, VMI took the lead as Boucher spun free of the CIT defender in the box before beating Sampson from close range to put the Keydets ahead, 3-2.
The Bulldogs were unable to muster a scoring chance in the final minutes.

Inside the Numbers:
2 – This was Fairfax's second straight start and second consecutive match with a goal.
2 – The Bulldogs attempted a season-low two corner kicks.
90 – Ellie Belcher and Grace Duncan have played every minute of the last eight matches, with the former playing full-time in the Bulldogs' last nine matches.
