CHARLESTON, S.C. – Buoyed by a quick three-goal sequence to open the second half, The Citadel (3-3-1, 0-0-0 SoCon) took advantage of the program's Senior Day energy to overpower visiting non-conference foe Bob Jones (1-2-4, 0-0-0 NCCAA), upending the Bruins via a final 3-0 margin Saturday afternoon at WLI Field.
Overall, the Bulldogs dominated on both ends of the field, registering a 26-to-0 edge on total shots, an 11-to-0 lead on shots-on-goal and a 10-to-0 advantage for corner kicks. Just over two minutes into the second period,
Adrianna Gill punched in the first score of the match during a set piece;
Cameron Martin followed up with a score of her own just a few minutes later before
Elisa Fuentes -- a senior and the team's military captain -- capped the streak with an arcing shot outside the box on a rebound.
Individually,
Alice Williamson posted a team-best five shots -- including one on goal -- while
Caelynn January recorded four and Martin wrapped up the day with three. A trio of goalkeepers --
Zoe Santos,
Grace Laws &
Sarah Wethington -- split time between the posts, with the former compiling just over 55 minutes and the latter handling 34 minutes.
