Mitchell, Myers, Pray Headline Football Staff Updates Entering Spring Training

2/20/2026 9:47:00 AM

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Prior to the launch of the spring offseason schedule on Friday, Feb. 13, The Citadel football head coach Maurice Drayton solidified the full slate of additions -- a senior advisor, two full-time assistant coaches and another pair within quality control -- for the program's coaching staff as the Bulldogs began preparation in earnest for the upcoming 2026 campaign.

In regards to new additions, Drayton brought on NFL veteran and notable The Citadel Hall of Fame inductee Stump Mitchell to serve as senior advisor within the program. Following a 10-year playing career within the Cardinals' and Chiefs' organizations, Mitchell racked up over two decades of experience coaching at the NFL level, working for numerous franchises between 1999 and 2023, including the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. Further, he also managed to log significant time coaching at the collegiate level as well, including stops at Morgan State, Southern University and, most recently, West Georgia.

At the assistant level, Devin Myers stepped in to take over the offensive line while Aaron Pray joined up to handle the running back room. As for quality control, former UTEP standout and NFL / CFL professional Alvin Jones Jr. slotted in as a defensive assistant while Hudson Dunaway, a four-year starter and later assistant coach at the United States Coast Guard Academy, came aboard as a special teams assistant.

A long-time staff member at West Alabama, Myers previously served as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator for the past two seasons following a five-year stint as the O-Line assistant from 2018-22. Prior to joining the Tigers' staff full-time in 2018, Myers tallied two years as a graduate assistant, primarily working with tight ends and offensive linemen. Additionally, he competed for two seasons as a starting offensive guard for West Alabama, helping lead the team to a 17-7 record, an NCAA Playoff appearance and back-to-back Gulf South Conference titles in 2012 and 2013.

A four-year starter at running back for McDaniel College, Pray worked for the past year as an offensive-focused assistant at West Georgia, primarily aiding the development of both wide receivers and running backs. Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, he served as the special teams coordinator (2025), running backs assistant / run game coordinator (2023-24) and wide receivers coach / pass game coordinator (2022) over a four-year stint at Maret School in Washington, D.C.
