Bolstered by a slew of impressive performances on the track, Dr. Jamel Brown carved his name into the record books as a premier hurdler for The Citadel from 2006-09. Specifically, he ran the 60m, 110m and 400m hurdles across both indoor and outdoor competition, racking up a pair of SoCon titles -- 400m IH (2008) & 110m HH (2009) -- as well as two NCAA Championship appearances, 13 All-Southern Conference accolades and school records for both the 60m HH and the 400m IH, marks which remain top five or better all-time.
Brown, who acted the Track & Field team captain during both the 2008 and 2009 campaigns, earned both his undergraduate (biology) and graduate (biology) degrees from The Citadel before proceeding to medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). After a four-year residency at Case Western Reserve University, he returned to Charleston to serve as an assistant professor back at MUSC.
