A four-year letterman for the Bulldogs from 1988-91, Cook operated as an integral member of the defense for multiple notable campaigns within The Citadel football history, helping set up the program's second-ever SoCon title just a season later in 1992. Overall, he assisted in 27 victories for The Citadel as a three-year starter at defensive end, including key wins over Navy ('88 & '89), South Carolina ('90) and Army ('91), eventually earning All-Southern Conference honors to cap his senior year.

Statistically, Cook still manages to maintain a significant presence in the record book, ranking third all-time in career tackles-for-loss (31) and seventh all-time in career sacks (8). He also led the 1991 defense -- the top-ranked unit in the SoCon for the season -- in sacks (5) and forced fumbles.

Off the field, Cook earned Gold Stars in both 1991 and 1992 while also acting as Echo Company Sergeant (1990-91) and Cadet 2nd Lt. Corps Squad Athletic Liaison Officer (1991-92). Following graduation, he was drafted by the CFL's Saskatchewan in 1992 before compiling a two-year professional career at outside linebacker for the Roughriders. Since 2005, Cook has served as a vital member of his community as a State Farm agent, owning a pair of offices in Hickory, N.C.
