CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel basketball team begins its second time through Southern Conference play this weekend when it heads to Chattanooga to face the Mocs on Saturday at 6 p.m.

A victory at McKenzie Arena would allow the Dogs (8-12, 3-6 SoCon) to avenge a 67-48 loss suffered at McAlister Field House on Dec. 11. It will also be the seventh win in Chattanooga in the all-time history.

The Citadel is also looking to snap a three-game losing streak that began with a 74-62 setback to Furman on Jan. 17.

Senior guard Ashton Moore (18.0 ppg) continues to be the catalyst for the Bulldog offense this season. Meanwhile, P.J. Horgan (6.8 rpg) anchors the post with 136 rebounds.

Chattanooga (14-8, 7-2 SoCon) slipped to second in the league standings after a 75-72 overtime loss at Mercer on Thursday evening. The Mocs are led by Casey Jones (13.6 ppg / 7.0 rpg) along with Greg Pryor (12.2 ppg), Ronrico White (10.5) and Justin Tuoyo (10.1).

The game can be seen live on the Southern Conference Digital Network and can be heard on Sports Radio 1450 with play-by-play announcer Mike Legg making the call for the Bulldogs.

The Citadel returns home on Feb. 5 to take on Mercer and quickly follows with a meeting against UNCG two days later. In that homestand Bulldog fans are encouraged to participate by donating non-perishable items at the games as part of the SoCon Hoops Against Hunger initiative.

Hoops Against Hunger, in partnership with the Brad Daugherty Foundation, brings together the basketball community along with public, private, and sports organizations as well as local and national sponsors to help provide meals for students who may not have enough to eat at home during the extended holiday breaks from school.
