CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel's
Ashton Moore hit a 20-foot jumper with 1.8 seconds left to give the Bulldogs a 74-73 victory over visiting East Tennessee State on Thursday evening at McAlister Field House.

Moore capped off the first double-double of his career with 21 points and 11 assists as he joined Cameron Wells and
Marshall Harris III as the only players in program history to notch a double-double via the combination of points and assists.

Knotted at 65-all with 3:40 remaining, following a pair of
Quinton Marshall free throws, Moore gave the Dogs (11-17, 6-11 SoCon) a slim two-point advantage just over a minute later on a pair of free throws.

Jalen Riley answered with a 3-pointer from the left wing for ETSU (16-12, 8-9 SoCon) as the score moved to 68-67 in the Bucs' favor.

With just over a minute remaining Moore drove the lane and found Marshall in the paint who managed an up-and-under layup and allowed The Citadel to retake the lead. Riley again was the nemesis for the Dogs as he knocked down a 3-pointer and forged the Bucs in front 71-69 with 48 seconds remaining.

On the ensuing possession, Moore followed two missed attempts with a fall away jumper, and drew a foul from Riley, to give the Bulldogs a 72-71 advantage with 19 seconds remaining.

Riley bounced back to hit a jumper from the right elbow with 8.7 remaining to mark the fifth lead change, 73-72, inside the final 2:17 of the game.

The back-and-forth battle was in the hands of Moore, who hit the 20-foot jumper as time expired, as The Citadel secured its eighth victory at home this season.

Moore led four players in double figures as he finished 5-of-10 from the floor and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line. He also climbed the glass for six rebounds.

Jake Wright notched his 12
th double-digit outing of the season with 15 points, knocking down 5-of-12 from 3-point range. He was joined by Marshall (5-7 FGs) and
Brian White (3-6 FGs), who chipped in 10 points each.

P.J. Horgan rounded out a solid starting unit for The Citadel with 11 rebounds (five offensive) and nine points (3-7 FGs). Combined with the efforts of Horgan, Moore and Marshall (five rebounds), the Dogs finished with a 32-28 advantage on the glass.

The Citadel capped off its 11
th victory of the season by hitting 24-of-50 (48%) from the floor, including eight from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs 18-of-18 from the free throw line marking the first time since the 1946-47 season that a Citadel squad was perfect against a Southern Conference opponent.

Riley and A.J. Merriweather shared team-high honors for ETSU with 19 points apiece. Riley capped off his evening by hitting 8-of-15 from the floor, including a trio of 3-pointers, while Merriweather finished 8-of-12 from the field.

Teammate Rashawn Rembert reached double figures for the 22
nd time this season, scoring 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor. Meanwhile, Isaac Banks led the way for the Bucs in the post with 14 rebounds (nine defensive).

East Tennessee State finished 30-of-63 (47.6%) from the field as a unit, converting eight from long distance. The Bucs made only six trips to the free throw line, knocking down six, as they fell to 3-5 on the road.

Moore scored seven of the final 10 points over the final 3:59 of the opening frame to help The Citadel take a one-point lead into the locker room.

East Tennessee State kept the closing minutes of the half close due in large part to five points by Merriweather, but it was a
Warren Sledge 3-pointer as time expired to provide the Dogs with the lead.

The Citadel rallied from an early ETSU lead to take their first lead of the game, 15-14, at the 10:36 mark following a long distance shot from Wright. That sparked a 9-2 run by the Bulldogs that included a second Wright trey along with a jumper by
C.J. Bray as the lead reached 24-16.

The Bucs pieced together a 12-4 run that took 3:27 off the clock and included four points each by Merriweather and Harris, but it was a timely 3-pointer by Riley that knotted the contest at 28-all.

The Dogs closed out their hot shooting half by knocking down 12-of-19 (63.2%) from the floor, including 5-of-9 (55.6%) from beyond the arc. The Citadel was a perfect 9-of-9 at the charity stripe highlighted by Moore (4-4) and Horgan (3-3).

The Citadel closes out the 2014-15 regular season on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Western Carolina at McAlister Field House at 1 p.m. The game will serve as senior day for the graduating class of
Marshall Harris III,
Ashton Moore and
P.J. Horgan.
