The Citadel Set to Host ETSU, VMI

–The Citadel men's basketball team continues its Southern Conference slate this weekend when it welcomes ETSU and VMI to McAlister Field House.
 
The Bulldogs are riding some momentum into the weekend following a thrilling 104-103 overtime win at Wofford on Jan. 2. Kaelon Harris scored a team-best 23 points for The Citadel and Preston Parks followed close behind with 19. Harris, Parks and Frankie Johnson combined to score all 13 of the Bulldogs' points in the overtime period. The win marked the first victory since 2007 on Wofford's home court.
 
ETSU comes to Charleston boasting an 11-3 record and picked up its first conference win of the season with a convincing 102-75 victory over VMI on Dec. 31. The Buccaneers are 2-2 while playing away from Johnson City this season.
 
VMI, currently 3-9 and 0-1 in the SoCon, will make a stop at Mercer on Thursday before taking on The Citadel. The Keydets are on a two-game skid and 0-7 when playing on the road.

FAST FACTS
• The Bulldogs earned their first win at Wofford since 2007 on Jan. 2 in a thrilling 104-103 overtime victory. The game marked the Bulldogs' first overtime victory on the road since Feb. 19, 2015 at Furman and the first time shooting over 50 percent in an OT period since Nov. 26, 2011. It also marked the first win of head coach Duggar Baucom's career on Wofford's home court.
• Freshmen Kaelon Harris, Frankie Johnson and Preston Parks accounted for all 13 points the Bulldogs scored in the overtime period against the Terriers and, including regulation, scored the last 20 points of the game. The trio combined to score 46 points in the contest.
• The Citadel is 5-0 this season when shooting at least 40 percent from beyond the arc. The 'Dogs have hit at least 10 three-pointers in 14 of the 16 games this season and have seven games with at least 15 treys made.
• Last season the Bulldogs had just five games with multiple players scoring at least 20 points. This year, The Citadel has already posted seven games with multiple 20-point scorers and three games with a 30-point scorer. Last year's squad had just one game with a 30-point effort.
• The Citadel's high-powered offense ranks first in seven different categories among Southern Conference members including scoring offense (100.0), free throw percentage (.774), rebounding offense (40.1), steals (10.8), assists (19.1), offensive rebounds (15.8) and three-point field goals made (13.3).
• With 50 rebounds at UMBC on Dec. 19, The Citadel has recorded three games with at least 50 or more boards.
• The Citadel scored 56 points in the second half of the game against UNCG, marking the 15th time this season the squad has posted at least 50 points in a half. The Citadel has also scored at least 100 points in a game eight times this season, something Coach Baucom's squad did just twice last year.
• The Bulldogs recorded 19 steals at Wofford on Jan. 2, marking the eighth time this season The Citadel has tallied double-digit steals in a game. The 'Dogs are tied for second in the NCAA with 172 total steals this year.
