CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's tennis team split a pair of non-conference tennis matches Thursday afternoon and evening. The Bulldogs claimed a 9-0 match over Virginia Wesleyan at the Earle Tennis Center before dropping a match 7-0 to the College of Charleston at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point.
"We were very glad to get a win against Virginia Wesleyan after the long week off," said head coach
Chuck Kriese. "The guys did what they needed to do against a well-coached team. Against the College of Charleston, (the Cougars) got on top of us in doubles and then played tough throughout the entire match. (CofC) is a very well-coached team and did the work that they needed to do to beat us. Our guys played hard the entire match, but the credit goes to (CofC). Our team is growing very fast and my only wish is that we had another month or two in the season. You always know when you have a great group of people on the team because you want the season to be extended. We are ready to go up to play Wofford in a conference match this coming Monday. We know that it will be a great challenge but the guys are looking forward to it."
