CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's basketball team open the second half of the SoCon season this week with a pair of home games against Furman and Wofford. The Citadel will first welcome Furman to town on Thursday, Jan. 31 for a 7 p.m. tipoff. Wofford will then travel to Charleston on Saturday, Feb. 2 for a 1 p.m. game.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
Thursday's game against Furman will be sponsored by Mt. Dew and TD Bank and will feature a class reunion for the classes of 1969, 1979, 1994 and 2009. Fans who are present will have a chance to win a Pepsi clock and Mt. Dew headphones. City of Charleston Gymnastics will provide the halftime entertainment. Saturday's game versus Wofford is Barbasol Day featuring a giveaway for cadets. The game with the Terriers is sponsored by Barbasol and Ashley Furniture.
THE BULLDOGS ON TELEVISION
Saturday's game with Wofford will be the Bulldogs' second appearance on the SoCon's new Nextstar Package. The game versus the Terriers will be carried in Charleston on WCBD - Channel 2 and will also be available in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville market, the Tri-Cities market of Tennessee, and the Roanoke, Virginia market.
THE BULLDOGS NATIONALLY
The Citadel enters this week's pair of games in the top 50 in the nation in seven statistical categories, including leading the nation in 3-pointers made per game (12.7). The Bulldogs are currently second in scoring (90.1 points per game), 3-pointers attempted (747) and 3-pointers made (254). The 'Dogs are also tied for 22
nd in assists per game (16.8), tied for 34
th in assists (336) and 39
th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.33).
FRIERSON NATIONALLY
Matt Frierson enters the week second in NCAA Division I with 4.15 3-pointers made per game, third with 83 total 3-pointers made this season and fourth with 212 3-point attempts.
STALLWORTH NATIONALLY
Lew Stallworth enters the week 20
th in the nation with 124 assists and is 21
st in NCAA Division I an average of 6.2 assists per game.
STALLWORTH LEADING THE WAY
With his 29-point performance against VMI, Stallworth has now scored at least 20 points in nine games this season and 12 times in his career.
STALLWORTH WITH THE ASSIST
With his four assists Saturday against VMI, Stallworth now has 124 assists this season. He is now tied with
Kevin Hammock's 2003-04 season for 10
th all-time in program history for assists in a single campaign. He is just seven assists away from
Marshall Harris, III's 2013-14 season in ninth (131).
NAJDAWI WITH THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Zane Najdawi finished the VMI game with his second straight double-double, scoring 18 points and bringing down 10 rebounds. He is the first Bulldog since Stallworth earlier this season to post back-to-back double-double performances. Najdawi had 12 points and 10 boards at UNCG. The double-double is the 15
th of Najdawi's career, a mark that has him sixth all-time in program history. His next double-double will tie him with
Craig Burgess (1983-87) and
Matt Newman (1994-98) for fourth all-time for career double-doubles. Najdawi's six double-doubles so far this season match his sophomore campaign (2016-17) and are tied for 10
th for most double-doubles in a single season. His next double-double with move him up into a tie for sixth with
Regan Truesdale (1983-84),
Kent Hill (1988-89) and
J'Mel Everhart (2004-05, 2005-06).
NAJDAWI WITH 10 REBOUNDS
With his 10 rebounds against VMI, Najdawi moved up another spot in The Citadel record book, from sixth to fifth, in career rebounds with 664. He is just two behind
Matt Newman for fourth.

For the fourth game in a row, Frierson connected on at least three 3-pointers, adding to his career total. Frierson, who set the program record for career made treys in the game at UNCG, now boasts 303 triples, including 83 this season. Frierson's 83 3-pointers this year are tied for fourth all-time in program history for treys in a single season. He is tied with
Zach Urbanus' 2009-10 season. Frierson holds the program record for 3-pointers in a season with 114 last year.
FRIERSON IN SOCON HISTORY
Frierson is currently seventh in Southern Conference history with 303 made 3-pointers in his career. He is third among active players, behind Wofford's
Fletcher Magee (first, 436) and UNCG's
Francis Alonso (fourth, 359).

THE HISTORY WITH FURMAN
Furman holds a 123-87 record over The Citadel dating back to 1920. The Paladins have won four of the last five meetings, and seven of the last 10. The Bulldogs hold a 54-46 record over the Paladins in Charleston, including last season's 100-92 overtime victory on Feb. 3.
SCOUTING THE PALADINS
Furman started the season off 12-0 and climbed to 24th in the national polls, boasting road wins over Loyola Chicago and Villanova to go along with wins over Western Carolina, Elon, USC Upstate and UNC Wilmington. The Paladins boast conference wins over Western Carolina, Mercer, The Citadel, VMI and Chattanooga, but most recently dropped a 75-73 decision at home to Samford. Furman has averaged 78.9 points per game, while holding opponents to 67.3 points per outing. The Paladins have shot 46.8 percent from the field, including 35.9 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, and are averaging 10.4 treys per game. In comparison, foes have shot 42.8 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from 3-point range, while averaging 7.8 3-pointers per contest.
FURMAN INDIVIDUALLY
Matt Rafferty,
Jordan Lyons and
Clay Mounce have led Furman in scoring with 17.7 points, 16.4 point and 10.7 points per game. Behind the trio in double figures,
Noah Gurley and
Alex Hunter have averaged 9.1 and 8.8 points per game. Both Rafferty and Mounce are shooting over 50.0 percent with Rafferty connecting on 63.0 percent of his shots from the field and Mounce hitting on 50.9 percent. Lyons leads the team with 73 made 3-pointers and shoots 34.8 percent from beyond the arc. Hunter is second on the team with 34 made treys, while shooting 32.1 percent, and Mounce is third on the team with 30 made 3-pointers, but leads the team by connecting on 42.9 percent of his attempts from long range. Rafferty and Mounce lead the way under the basket with 9.1 and 6.4 rebounds per game, and both boast over 20 blocks. Rafferty leads the team with 90 assists. Rafferty, Lyons, Mounce and Hunter have started all 21 games, while Gurley has made 15 starts.
THE HISTORY WITH WOFFORD
Wofford holds a 57-49 all-time record over The Citadel dating back to the 1920-21 season. The Terriers have won three of the last five, and seven of the last 10 meetings between the two. Last season, the two teams split the home-and-home series with each protecting their home court. Wofford won the first matchup, 109-92, on Jan. 6 and the Bulldogs defeated the Terriers, 80-78, on Feb. 1. In Spartanburg, Wofford holds a 28-18 record over The Citadel. Earlier this year, Wofford claimed a 112-81 win in Spartanburg on Feb. 3.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Wofford enters the week 17-4, including 9-0 in SoCon play, and are riding an eight-game winning streak. The Terriers boast non-conference wins over High Point, South Carolina, Coastal Carolina and UNC Asheville. The Terriers are averaging 82.9 points per game, while holding opponents to 66.0 points per game. Wofford has shot 48.8 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. Their opponents have hit on 43.1 percent of their field goals, including 34.5 percent from long range. The Terriers average 10.5 treys per outing compared to 7.6 per game by their foes. Under the basket, Wofford is out-rebounding opponents by a +8.2 margin, averaging 35.9 boards per contest compared to 27.7 by their opponents.
WOFFORD INDIVIDUALLY
The Terriers have been led by seniors
Fletcher Magee and
Cameron Jackson, as well as junior
Nathan Hoover. Magee is averaging 18.8 points per game, second in the league, with Jackson averaging 15.2. Magee leads the team and the SoCon with 85 3-pointers made, while shooting 37.4 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. Jackson leads the team with 7.9 rebounds per game, and has shot 59.2 percent from the field. Hoover averages 13.8 points per game and is second on the team with 52 triples.
Storm Murphy, the Terriers' fourth-leading scorer with 7.8 points per game, leads the team with 69 assists. Magee, Jackson, Hoover and
Keve Aluma have started all 21 games and Murphy has started 19.

Following Saturday's game against Wofford, the Bulldogs will be off for an entire week before traveling to Macon, Georgia for a game against Mercer on Saturday, Feb. 9. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
