Eddie Davis, III and
Brady Spence.
EVERYBODY GETTING IN ON THE SCORING
Every player who was available to play on Nov. 26 against Brevard saw action, and all 11 players who played scored. The game marked the first time every Bulldog who played scored since all 14 players who saw action against Mid-Atlantic Christian last season scored (Nov. 12, 2018).
KEEPING THE TORNADOS AT BAY
The 47 points scored by Brevard (Nov. 26) are the fewest of any opponent in the
Duggar Baucom era, and were the fewest scored by an opponent since the 2014-15 Bulldogs held Bethune-Cookman to 47 in a 51-47 win at home on Dec. 30, 2014.
DOUBLE THE TROUBLE
Davis and Spence each recorded their first career double-doubles in the game against Brevard. It marked the first time two Bulldogs have recorded a double-double in the same game since
Zane Najdawi and
Lew Stallworth did so at Campbell last season (Dec. 18, 2018). Najdawi had 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Stallworth recorded 21 points and 11 boards.
BLOCK PARTY
Freshmen
Stephen Clark and Spence recorded multiple blocks in the game against Brevard, marking the first time at least one player had multiple blocks in a game since Najdawi did so in the season finale last year against Samford (March 8, 2019).
CORRALLING IN THE BOARDS
The Bulldogs brought down 53 rebounds on Nov. 26 against Brevard, marking the first time the 'Dogs have corralled at least 50 boards since recording 52 rebounds against Johnson & Wales last season (Dec. 5, 2018).
THE HISTORY WITH ETSU
ETSU holds a 45-17 record over The Citadel dating back to the 1961-62 season. During the 2017-18 campaign, the two teams split the series with each team winning on the other's home court by two points. The two have met just three times in the month of December prior to Wednesday's SoCon opener, on Dec. 28 during the 1962-63 season, on Dec. 30 during the 1964-65 campaign and on Dec. 11 during the 1965-66 season.
SCOUTING THE BUCS
ETSU enters the week 7-1 and No. 3 in the
CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. The lone loss on the year came at No. 4 Kansas back on Nov. 19 and broke a three-game winning streak to start the season that included wins over Newberry, UT Martin and Winthrop. Since the loss, ETSU has defeated Delaware State, Southern Utah and Appalachian State at home, and came from behind to defeat Arkansas Little Rock on the road on Nov. 30. ETSU is averaging 76.0 points per game and holding opponents to 64.2 points per outing for a +11.8 scoring margin. The Bucs have connected on 47.4% of their attempts from the field, including shooting 38.1% from beyond the 3-point arc. Their opponents have converted 42.4% of their field goal attempts, but have only connected on 29.5% of their 3-point attempts. The Bucs average 9.0 treys per game compared to 5.8 by the opposition. ETSU is currently averaging 36.1 rebounds per game compared to 31.4 per game by their opponents.
ETSU INDIVIDUALLY
Of the 12 players to see action for ETSU this season, only six have played in all eight games with two more having played in seven.
Bo Hodges,
Lucas N'Guessan and
Isaiah Tisdale have started all eight games with
Jeromy Rodriguez starting seven and
Patrick Good starting six. Hodges leads the team with 14.8 points per game, while Tray Boyd adds 12.3 points per game and
Daivien Williams chips in 10.0. Boyd, the SoCon Player of the Week by
College Sports Madness, is tied with Good for tops on the team with 20 made 3-pointers, while Rodriguez leads the team with 6.9 rebounds per game. Williamson boasts a team-high 26 assists, just one ahead of Tisdale and six ahead of Hodges. N'Guessan leads the team with a .657 shooting percentage from the field, while Boyd leads those players with at least 15 3-point attempts with a .426 shooting percentage behind the arc.
COMING UP
Following Wednesday's SoCon game against ETSU, the Bulldogs will welcome Carver to McAlister Field House on Saturday, Dec. 7. The homestand will conclude on Tuesday, Dec. 10 with a 7 p.m. game against Piedmont.
