CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's basketball team begins the final homestand of the regular season this week with a pair of games against Chattanooga and Samford. The Citadel will first welcome UTC to McAlister Field House on Thursday, Feb. 21 for a 7 p.m. game. The 'Dogs will then tangle with the Bulldogs from Birmingham on Saturday, Feb. 23. Saturday's game against Samford, which will tip off at 1 p.m., is Senior Day and will be aired on the SoCon's TV package through Nextstar.
SENIOR DAY SATURDAY
Prior to Saturday's 1 p.m. tipoff against Samford, The Citadel will recognize

Lew Stallworth,
Matt Frierson and
Zane Najdawi in a special Senior Day celebration.
THE BULLDOGS NATIONALLY
The Citadel entered the week in the top 50 in NCAA Division I in five statistical categories. The Bulldogs are second in both 3-pointers made per game (12.0) and 3-pointers attempted (880). The 'Dogs are also fifth with 299 total 3-pointers made and scoring (86.2 points per game). The 'Dogs are also 44th in assists per game (15.6).
STALLWORTH NATIONALLY
Stallworth enters this week in the top 65 in the nation in five categories. The Los Angeles, California native is 19th in assists per game (6.1), tied for 24th with 152 total assists, tied for 27th in field goals made (191), tied for 47th in scoring (19.9 points per game) and tied for 63rd in NCAA Division I for field goal percentage (.537).
FRIERSON NATIONALLY
Frierson is currently in the top 20 in three 3-point field goal statistical categories. Frierson is tied for 10th in 3-pointers made per game (3.63), tied for 18th with 87 total 3-pointers made and 16th with 227 3-point field goal attempts.
NAJDAWI NATIONALLY
Najdawi is currently tied for 71st in the nation with 43 blocked shots and he is tied for 74th with an average of 1.72 blocks per game.
STALLWORTH WITH A 30 PIECE
After scoring 37 points at Western Carolina, Stallworth now boasts two career 30-point games. He joins Najdawi and Frierson as the only current Bulldogs to have eclipsed the 30-point mark multiple times in their careers. Eighteen Bulldogs have scored 30 or more points multiple times in their careers. Stallworth's 37 points are tied for the 10th-most points scored in a single game by one Bulldog. Najdawi scored 37 last season against Chattanooga (Jan. 13, 2018).
BLOCK PART FOR ZANE
Najdawi swatted away two shots at Western Carolina, marking the 54th game in his career he has recorded multiple blocks in a game. He boasts 14 multi-block games this season. For the year, Najdawi boasts 43 blocks. The mark has his 2018-19 season seventh in program history for blocks in a single season. Najdawi already boasts four of the program's top-10 performances for blocks in a single season.
ONE OF JUST SIX
Najdawi is one of just six players in Southern Conference history, and is the only player in school history, to score at least 1,500 career points while also bringing down over 650 rebounds and swatting away 150 shots.
STALLWORTH WITH ASSIST
At ETSU, Stallworth recorded his sixth double-double of the year as he had 10 assists to go along with 18 points. The 10 assists by Stallworth mark the most since he had 10 in the Bulldogs' win over Johnson & Wales earlier this season on Dec. 5, 2018.
THE HISTORY WITH CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga holds a 64-18 all-time record over The Citadel, including a 29-10 mark in Charleston, but the Bulldogs won the last two meetings in the Holy City. Last season, the 'Dogs downed the Mocs 110-101 in overtime on Jan. 13. The season before, The Citadel held on for an 85-76 win over Chattanooga on Feb. 27.
SCOUTING THE MOCS
Chattanooga enters the week with an 11-16 record overall, including 3-10 on the road and 6-8 in Southern Conference action. Chattanooga is currently averaging 72.7 points per game, while their opponents have scored 74.7 points per outing. The Mocs are hitting on 44.7 percent of their shots compared to 45.8 percent by their foes, but the Mocs have converted 9.3 3-pointers per game compared to 7.4 by the opposition.
THE MOCS INDIVIDUALLY
Four Mocs are currently averaging double-digit points led by
Kevin Easley's 14.7 points per contest.
Donovann Toatley averages 11.5 point per game,
Jerry Johnson, Jr. has chipped in 10.9 points per contest and
Ramon Villa has added 10.5 points per outing, but in just 17 games. Villa leads the team from the floor, shooting 60.3 percent with Easley shooting 46.0 percent.
Thomas Smallwood has connected on 50.4 percent of his attempts from the field, including 53.8 percent from beyond the arc. Johnson leads the team with 52 made 3-pointers, just six more than Easley. Easley is connecting on 40.0 percent of his 3-point attempts, while Johnson has converted 36.4 percent of his 3-point attempts. Easley leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game and Toatley leads the team with 74 assists. Easley and
Jonathan Scott have started all 27 games, while Johnson has missed one game. Smallwood boasts 14 starts and Vila has made 13 starts.
David Jean-Baptiste has started 17 games and Toatley has started eight.
THE HISTORY WITH SAMFORD
The Citadel holds an 11-10 record, including 5-4 in Charleston, over Samford dating back to the 1991-92 season. The Bulldogs won the first meeting, 73-67, in Charleston on Feb. 19, 1992. The Citadel won five games in a row over the Bulldogs of Birmingham from Jan. 16, 2010 - Jan. 7, 2012. The last Citadel win in the series came in Birmingham on Feb. 25, 2017, 102-96.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS FROM BIRMINGHAM
Samford enters the week 16-11 overall, 6-8 in SoCon play and 5-7 on the road. The Bulldogs started the season off by winning seven of their first eight games with the lone loss in that stretch being on the road at No. 23 Ohio State. Since beating The Citadel on Jan. 17, 80-77, Samford has gone 4-4 with three games going to overtime. The Bulldogs have averaged 78.6 points per game, while their foes have scored 74.5 points per contest. Samford has connected on 48.3 percent of its field goals, while opponents have converted 41.5 percent from the field. Samford averages 7.9 3-pointers per game, while giving up 9.3 treys per outing. The Bulldogs have managed to shoot 39.6 percent from beyond the arc compared to 34.6 percent by their foes.
THE BULLDOGS INDIVIDUALLY
The Bulldogs feature four players averaging double-digit points led by
Josh Sharkey's 16.5 points per game. The point guard also leads the team with 35.7 minutes and 7.7 assists per outing, while shooting 44.5 percent from the field.
Ruben Guerrero and
Brandon Austin both average over 13.0 points per game, with Guerrero scoring 13.9 per contest and Austin adding 13.2 per outing. Austin leads the squad with 78 3-pointers made, an average of 2.9 per game, and Guerrero leads the team under the basket with 8.3 rebounds per game and 60 blocks.
Myron Gordon is the final Bulldog to average in double figures for scoring, chipping in 11.9, while
Robert Allen is just on the outside looking in with 9.7 points per contest. Guerrero is shooting 60.7 percent from the field with Kevion Nolan second on the team of those players who have taken at least 100 shots, shooting 49.2 percent. Allen is second on the team with an average of 7.6 boards per contest. Sharkey, Guerrero and Gordon have started every game, while Austin and Allen have both started 26.

Following this week's pair of home games, the Bulldogs will split the following week's games with a home matchup with UNC Greensboro on Thursday, Feb. 28 and an away game at VMI on Saturday, March 2. Thursday's game at McAlister Field House will feature a 7 p.m. tipoff, while Saturday's game will be at 1 p.m.
