CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's basketball team opens the 2020-21 season Wednesday afternoon as it welcomes Piedmont College to McAlister Field House. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.

Masks will be required for all fans entering McAlister Field House. Seating capacity will be limited to 30-percent so we ask that all fans practice social distancing.
ON THE RADIO
All games for the 2020-21 season will be carried on 102.1FM and 1450AM. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, returns for his third season behind the mic.

THE HISTORY WITH PIEDMONT
The Bulldogs and Lions are meeting for the 14th time on the hardwood with The Citadel holding a 12-1 advantage in the all-time series. All but one of the previous games has been played in Charleston. The Bulldogs have won nine-straight in the series, including a 129-83 victory on Dec. 10, 2019.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Lions season is already underway as they have a 1-1 record PC has also had four games postponed already this season. PC opened the season with an 88-64 victory over Bob Jones, before falling 78-70 at home to East Texas Baptist. The Lions are averaging 79.0 points per game, while allowing 71.0.
PIEDMONT INDIVIDUALLY
Piedmont is led offensively by guard Orry Clements-Owens who is averaging 23.5 points per game. He is coming off a 27-point performance against ETBU. He is 15-of-25 from the floor, including 9-of-16 from beyond the arc. Three other Lions are averaging double figures with Will Richter at 12.0, Ryan Jolly at 10.5 and Michael Joseph at 10.5. Jolly and Evan Easton are tied for the team lead at 6.0 rebounds per contest.
BULLDOGS IN SEASON OPENERS
The Bulldogs are 1-4 in the
Duggar Baucom era in season openers. The Citadel's season-opening victory came in 2017 with a 109-73 victory over Oglethorpe.
OPENING AT HOME
The Bulldogs are opening the season at home for the second-straight season and the third time in the last four seasons. The Citadel split its two previous games, defeating Ogelthorpe (109-73) in 2017 and falling to UNC Asheville (76-91) a season ago.
STAYING AT HOME
Fans will have plenty of chances to see the Bulldogs early this season as The Citadel will play seven of its first eight games inside McAlister Field House. After the game against Piedmont, the Bulldogs will host North Carolina A&T (Dec. 3), Toccoa Falls (Dec. 5), Columbia International (Dec. 7), Carver (Dec. 9), Presbyterian (Dec. 22) and UNCG (Dec. 30).

Senior
Kaiden Rice enters his final season with 791 career points. He is just 209 points away from becoming the 35th player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark.
Brown Returns
Hayden Brown returns to the lineup after missing the majority of last season due to injury. In just six games last year, Brown averaged 13.3 points. He was in double figures in four of the games, including dropping 26 points at Georgia.
RICE CLIMBS CHARTS
Kaiden Rice currently sits in ninth place on the school's all-time list for career three-pointers made. Through three years, Rice has made 182 three-pointers. His 79 made three-pointers in 2019-20 are tied for the seventh most in a single season.

ABEE BACK FOR MORE
Sophomore
Fletcher Abee returns to build off a freshman season that saw him average 12.2 points per game on his way to being named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team. His 365 points as a freshman are the fourth most in program history.
FROM LONG RANGE
The Citadel is not afraid to shoot from long range. Over the last five seasons, the Bulldogs have made the most 3-point field goals (1,796) in NCAA Division I.
ABEE SETS FRESHMAN 3-POINT RECORD
Fletcher Abee made an immediate impact in his freshman season as he proved to be one of the most deadly freshman three-point shooters in program history. Abee closed out last season with four three-pointers against Wofford to set the school freshman record with 80. He broke the old record set by Austin Dahn during the 2007-08 season.
GRAD TRANSFER IN NO. 13
For the third-straight season, the No. 13 jersey will be worn by a graduate transfer. This year, the honor goes to
Tyler Moffe. He joins the Bulldogs after averaging 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in three years at Mansfield University.
