CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team will host Chattanooga on Wednesday night before heading to Cullowhee, North Carolina to face Western Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 22. Wednesday's game against the Mocs tips off at 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest with the Catamounts, which will be the second of a men's and women's doubleheader, will get underway at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, The Citadel will recognize
Kaelon Harris, Tyson Batiste and
Connor Kern during the Bulldogs' annual Senior Day festivities.
ABEE IN THE NATION
Freshman
Fletcher Abee enters the week ranked 48th in NCAA Division I for 3-point shooting percentage (.380). Abee is tied for 63rd in the nation for 3-pointers made per game (2.60) and tied for 77th with 65 made treys.
BATISTE NATIONALLY
Graduate point guard
Tyson Batiste heads into this weeks two games tied for 37th in NCAA Division I with 5.4 assists per game. Batiste is tied for 41st with 135 assists.
RICE NATIONALLY
Junior
Kaiden Rice enters this week tied for 22nd in the nation with 203 3-point field goal attempts. Rice is tied for 37th in both 3-pointers made per game (2.88) and total 3-pointers made (72).
HARRIS BACK TO HIS DOUBLE-DOUBLE WAYS
Harris' double-double on Feb. 15 was his ninth of the season, and the 10th of his career. He is now in sole possession of fourth in program history for single-season double-doubles, and tied the ninth spot in program history for career double-doubles. Harris is tied for 54th in the nation with nine double-doubles.
RICE MOVING ON UP
With his two made 3-pointers against Samford, Rice is now tied for ninth in program history with 176 career made 3-pointers. Rice's 73 made 3-pointers this season move him into the top 15 in program history for single-season treys made. He matches the 11th spot, a spot that includes Citadel great Zach Urbanus' 2007-08 season.
FRESHMAN SCORING
Abee's 14 points scored on Feb. 15 give him 301 on the year. He is 10 away from eighth in program history for points scored by a freshman.
ABEE FROM LONG RANGE
Abee's two made 3-pointers against Samford gave him 65 on the year. He tied fifth in program history for 3-pointers made by a freshman. He is seven away from fourth and eight away from third.
TYSON IN THE RECORD BOOK
Batiste recorded four assists against Samford on Feb. 15, giving him 135 on the year. The mark moves him up to eighth in program history for single-season assists. Batiste needs three more to match sixth and 18 more to crack the top five.
CLARK SWATTING SHOTS
With his one blocked shot against Samford,
Stephen Clark has swatted away 11 shots this season. He is two away from cracking the top 15 for blocks by a freshman.
THE HISTORY WITH CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga holds a 66-18 record over the Bulldogs heading into Wednesday's game, including a 30-10 mark in Charleston. The Mocs have won the last four meetings, but three of those were decided by three or fewer points. The Bulldogs last won in the series on Jan. 13, 2018, a 110-101 overtime victory at home.
SCOUTING THE MOCS
Chattanooga enters the week 16-11 overall with a 7-7 mark in Southern Conference play, but the Mocs are 5-8 away from home. The Mocs have split their last six games, including most recently falling 58-53 at Furman on Feb. 15. Prior to that loss, the Mocs won back-to-back games against Wofford (Feb. 8, 84-77) and VMI (Feb. 12, 86-67). The Mocs average 72.1 points per game while holding their opponents to 67.9 points per outing, a +4.2 margin. Chattanooga has connected on 44.8% of its shots from the field, but the opposition has converted 44.5% of its shots. The Mocs are currently shooting 35.4% from 3-point range and have converted an average of 8.6 3-pointers per game compared to 30.9% and 6.3 per game by their foes.
CHATTANOOGA INDIVIDUALLY
Chattanooga is led in scoring by
Matt Ryan's 15.3 points per game off 42.1% shooting.
David Jean-Baptiste is second on the team with an average of 12.6 points per outing with
Roman Vila third with an average of 12.2 points per contest. Vila shoots 61.9% from the field, which leads the team. Vila also leads the team in rebounding with an average of 5.5 boards per contest, just ahead of Rod Johnson's 4.9 rebounds per game. Ryan leads the team with 69 made 3-pointers on the year with Jean-Baptiste second with 46 made treys.
Maurice Commander leads the team with 65 assists, while Jean-Baptiste is second with 61. Ryan, Jean-Baptiste and Vila have started all 27 games. Commander and Johnson have both started all 26 games they have appeared in.
A.J. Caldwell and
Jonathan Scott are the only other two players to have played in every game.
THE HISTORY WITH WESTERN CAROLINA
Saturday will mark the 79
th meeting on the hardwood between The Citadel and Western Carolina. The Catamounts hold a 42-36 record over the Bulldogs, including 39-34 in Southern Conference action and 23-14 in Cullowhee. The Cats are in the midst of a five-game winning streak in the series. The last Citadel victory came in the 2016-17 SoCon Tournament with the Bulldogs winning 78-72 in Asheville on March 3, 2017.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Western Carolina enters the week 16-9 overall, including 8-6 in SoCon action and 8-3 at home. WCU will host VMI on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The Catamounts most recently snapped a two game losing skid with an 80-74 road win over Wofford on Feb. 15. Western posted a five-game winning streak from Nov. 21 to Dec. 7, and again from Dec. 21 to Jan. 11. The Cats average 78.2 points per game, while holding their opponents to 74.4 points per outing. WCU has connected on 46.6% of their shots from the field compared to 43.3% from their opposition, and boast a .372 shooting percentage from long range. Their foes have connected on just 29.7% of their shots from beyond the 3-point arc. The Cats average 9.8 made 3-pointers per game, 15
th in NCAA Division I and second in the league, compared to 7.2 per game by their opponents. Western Carolina is tied for 27
th in the nation with a 3-point shooting percentage of .372.
WESTERN CAROLINA INDIVIDUALLY
Four Catamounts average double-figure scoring led by
Mason Faulkner's 17.6 points per game and
Carlos Dotson's 15.5 points per outing.
Onno Steger averages 11.8 points per contest and
Matt Halvorsen rounds out the quartet with 10.0 points per game. Of players to have taken at least 100 shots, Dotson leads the charge with a .615 shooting percentage. Halvorsen, Steger and Faulkner are the leading 3-point shooters on the team. Halvorsen has converted 66 treys, Steger has made 61 and Faulkner has added 53 made 3-pointers. Faulkner boasts a team-leading 147 assists on the year and leads the team with 29 steals. Under the hoop, Dotson averages 10.0 rebounds per game with Faulkner second with 5.6 boards per contest. Steger and Halvorsen are the only two Cats to have started all 25 games. Faulkner and Dotson have both started 24, and
Kameron Gibson is the next closest with 17 starts.
COMING UP
The Citadel will close out the regular season with a home game against Mercer on Wednesday, Feb. 26 and an away game at Furman on Saturday, Feb. 29. The 'Dogs and Bears will tip off at 7 p.m. The game in Greenville is slated to get underway at 4 p.m. The game against the Paladins will mark the third time in five weeks that the Bulldogs will be featured on the Southern Conference's Nexstar television package.
CLEAR BAG POLICY
Fans attending ticketed athletic events at The Citadel this year are reminded of the new clear bag policy that has been implemented. Under the policy, fans will be allowed to bring with them a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag that does not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a one-gallon plastic bag (such as Ziploc or Hefty bags).
