Yosue Becomes All-Time Career Points Leader in 5-1 Win over VMI

Bulldogs to host VMI again in SoCon Tournament Opening Round Tuesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. –  The Citadel finished the regular season on a winning note Sunday, defeating VMI 5-1 for a raucous crowd at WLI Field.  
 
The Lead
  • The Citadel earned the seventh seed for the SoCon Tournament and will again host tenth-seed VMI on Tuesday at WLI Field in the opening-round game
  • The Bulldogs finish the regular season 9-8, marking the first time in program history The Citadel has posted back-to-back winning seasons at regular season's end. The team went 10-7-2 in 2021.
  • Suzuka Yosue had two goals with one assist to become the all-time career points leader with 82 points on 24 goals and 34 assists. She passed Mariana Garcia's mark of 79, set between 2010-13. Yosue's 24 goals ranks fifth all-time.

  • 2' – Suzuka Yosue kicked off the festivities with an early goal to tie the career point record
  • 4' – VMI got one right back with Lauren Fyfe's goal, assisted by Katy Layman
  • 17' – Kristi Jones regained the lead for The Citadel
  • 18' – Jimena Risoto quickly followed suit to take control of the match, assisted by Suzuka Yosue and Kristi Jones. Yosue's assist put her over the top on the career points record board with 80 points
  • 49' – Suzuka Yosue opened the second half with another score, assisted by Kristi Jones and Lexy Kendro, to give Yosue her fifth multi-goal game of her career
  • 61' – Freshman Celeste Nader closed out the scoring with her first career goal, coming off a free kick from Makenzie DePriest-Kessler
