NUMBERS CALLED, NUMBERS ANSWERED
The Citadel proved worthy contenders against first-place Chattanooga on Saturday, despite the 75-62 defeat. Several Bulldogs accepted bigger roles, including Jackson Price and Owen Spencer, who both stepped up in the wake of Hayden Brown's absence with seven and five rebounds, respectively. Stephen Clark had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Tyler Moffe rattled in a game-high 21 points and making three 3-pointers. The Mocs' Malachi Smith and David Jean-Baptiste were held below their league-leading averages.

RISING THROUGH THE RANKS!
Hayden Brown became the eighth person in school history Saturday to reach 1,200 points and 600 rebounds, currently at 1,202 points for 19th all-time and 606 boards for ninth all-time. Stephen Clark moved into fourth all-time in school history with 115 career blocks, while his 53 swats this season puts him at sixth all-time. Jason Roche climbed into fourth all-time among The Citadel freshmen with 73 made 3-pointers this season, putting him within seven of tying the rookie mark of 80 set by Fletcher Abee (2019-20).

TYLER MOFFE: A CAREER IN REVIEW
Making his 101st career NCAA start Saturday versus Chattanooga, Tyler Moffe led the game with 21 points for his best scoring production ever at The Citadel. It marked the graduate point guard's highest-scoring game since his undergrad days at Mansfield University (NCAA Div. II) when he scored 23 points at Seton Hill on Nov. 23, 2019. All told, Moffe has 1,567 career points between his one season at Jamestown C.C. (N.Y.), three years at Mansfield (Pa.), and the last two at The Citadel.

HISTORY WITH FURMAN
This storied rivalry currently has Furman ahead 128-87 entering their 216th matchup. The Paladins have won six straight and ten of the last 11. The Bulldogs, equipped with two comeback victories this season after trailing by at least 15 points, have a history of rallying to beat Furman, with a 17-point comeback overtime win in 2018 and an 18-point rally in 2013 ranking in the top five all-time in school history.

SCOUTING THE PALADINS
Furman enters Wednesday winners of four straight, nine of its last 11, and 8-2 in SoCon play. The Paladins lead the league with a 39.1 3-point field goal percentage (283-723) and 8.6 steals per game. Furman has three scorers averaging double figures in Mike Bothwell (15.5 ppg., 7th in SoCon), Jalen Slawson (15.2, 8th), and Alex Hunter (14.3, 12th), with Slawson also ranking first in the league with 2.1 steals per game and fourth at 7.6 rpg.

TALES FROM THE "TRIP"
Armed with freshman shooting phenom Jason Roche and the capable long-range shooting of Tyler Moffe, David Maynard, Rudy Fitzgibbons III and plenty others, The Citadel is 209-of-616 from 3-point range this season. The Bulldogs are 7-5 when they make at least ten threes, but 0-4 when opponents match said feat.

ROCHE LEADS SOCON IN THREES, MINUTES PLAYED
Freshman Jason Roche continues to lead the SoCon with 35.8 minutes played, while his 3.7 made threes per game ranks him second in the league.

A HISTORY OF COMING BACK
The Citadel rallied from a 19-point deficit in the last 12 minutes to defeat Western Carolina on Jan. 26, 68-66, for the biggest comeback win since 2011. The Bulldogs doubled down to erase a 12-point margin in the final three-and-a-half minutes with Hayden Brown scoring the team's final ten points, including the game-winning and-one layup with 5.7 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs previously rallied from a 15-point haltime deficit to knock off UNCG on Jan. 13. In both contests, The Citadel went into halftime trailing 33-18. Additionally, they created late second-half drama versus VMI on Jan. 15 after trailing by 13 points in the first half to take a brief 73-72 lead with over five minutes to play.

*Editor's Note: Upon further review of team records, The Citadel's 19-point comeback win over Western Carolina (1/26/21) was the second-biggest comeback win in school history. The biggest was a 21-point rally over Western Carolina on Feb. 24, 2011.
