Soccer Preview | Bulldogs Return Home to Host South Carolina State

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Citadel returns to Washington Light Infantry Field on Thursday, Aug. 27, for a 5 p.m. match against South Carolina State.

The Bulldogs enter the match with a 1-1-1 record following a 1-0 road victory over Kennesaw State on August 21. Samantha Grantham scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute off an assist from Jasiah Pack, while Zoe Santos recorded six saves to earn the shutout.

Previewing The Citadel

The Citadel has scored three goals and allowed three through its first three matches of the season. The Bulldogs opened the year with a 2-2 draw at Queens before falling 1-0 to Southern Utah in their home opener.

Grantham leads the Bulldogs with two goals through three matches. She recorded a goal and an assist in the season-opening draw at Queens before scoring the lone goal against Kennesaw State.

Santos has started all three matches in goal and enters Thursday with an .850 save percentage. She recorded her first shutout of the season against Kennesaw State.

South Carolina State

South Carolina State enters Thursday with an 0-3 record. The Bulldogs have been held scoreless through their first three matches while allowing 15 goals.

Series History

The Citadel won the previous meeting between the teams, earning a 1-0 victory at South Carolina State on Aug. 28, 2025.
