Bulldogs Travel to Chattanooga on Wednesday

CHARLESTON, S.C.
–The Citadel men's basketball team travels to Chattanooga on Wednesday for a midweek matchup against the defending Southern Conference champions.
 
On Saturday, the Bulldogs downed rival VMI 79-74 for their second SoCon win of the season and improved to 7-3 inside McAlister Field House this year. The Citadel was led by Zane Najdawi's 25 points and Leandro Allende's 21, while Matt Frierson chipped in 11 points. No team led by more than six in a game that featured 14 ties and 13 lead changes.
 
Chattanooga boasts a 12-4 record and are a perfect 7-0 at home this year. The Mocs are 3-1 in SoCon action with their lone loss coming to UNCG on Jan. 2.
 
Tip between the Bulldogs and Mocs is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday in McKenzie Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 with live stats available at CitadelSports.com.
 
FAST FACTS
• After losing four straight to VMI from 2013-2015, The Citadel has now won two of the last three against the rival Keydets after the 79-74 win on Jan. 7.
• The Citadel owns the two highest single-game point totals in the NCAA this season after scoring 146 points on Nov. 13 and 144 on Dec. 7. The Bulldogs' 27 steals against Johnson University ranks second in the nation while their 34 assists is tied for third. Preston Parks' program-record-tying eight steals against the Suns is also tied for fifth in the NCAA this season.
• The Citadel is 5-0 this season when shooting at least 40 percent from beyond the arc. The 'Dogs have hit at least 10 three-pointers in 15 of the 18 games this season and have seven games with at least 15 treys made.
• The Citadel's high-powered offense ranks first in seven different categories among Southern Conference members including scoring offense (97.2), rebounding offense (40.1), steals (10.2), assists (18.3), offensive rebounds (15.2), turnover margin (+4.00) and three-point field goals made (12.7).
• Zane Najdawi is currently second in the SoCon in offensive rebounds and rebounds and sixth in scoring. He is also tied for fourth in the NCAA for most free throws made in a single game after sinking 16 against Colgate on Dec. 2.
