CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's basketball team closes out the 2016-17 regular season at home on Monday night, hosting SoCon foe Chattanooga inside McAlister Field House.
The Bulldogs come into Monday's contest following a hard-fought 102-96 win at Samford on Saturday evening. The Citadel was held to just eight three-pointers in the contest but shot a blistering 72 percent from the field in the second half, scored 42 points in the paint and made 13 free throws in the final 1:30 to hold off Samford's late rally.
Preston Parks and
Ezekiel Balogun each posted career highs, pouring in 37 and 21 respectively. The Bulldogs' freshman combined to score 67 points in the contest.
Chattanooga, coming off a 64-54 loss to Mercer on Saturday and currently on a three-game skid, is 19-10 this year. The Mocs, hold a 10-7 record in Southern Conference action and are in fourth place in the conference entering the final game of the regular season.
Monday's season finale against Chattanooga is set to begin at 7 p.m. The Citadel will honor

• With 21 free throws on Feb. 22 The Citadel broke the single-season program record for free throws made, surpassing the previous mark of 529 set in 1984-85. The Bulldogs have broken four single-season records in the past two games including assists, steals and free throw attempts.

Zane Najdawi's 15.0 PPG, The Citadel is one of two SoCon teams with multiple scorers ranked in the top-10 in the conference.
• With the win on Saturday at Samford. the Bulldogs have now matched last year's win total.
• Using Coach Baucom's line change system, the 'Dogs have scored 1,233 bench points this year surpassing last season's total of 1,196 points. The largest contribution so far this season came in a 116-112 win at Stetson when the Bulldogs' reserves poured in 72 points.

Preston Parks ranks first in the SoCon with his average of 22.1 points per game in conference play. Parks is one of two freshman in the top-30 in scoring in conference games and the only freshmen in the top 30 overall this season. He would be the first freshman since Davidson's Stephen Curry in 2006-07 to lead the SoCon in scoring in conference play.
• On Feb. 22, Parks broke The Citadel's eight-year-old freshman scoring record and now has 482 points in his freshman campaign.
• The Bulldogs are 8-0 this season when leading at the five minute mark in the second half. Before Saturday's come-from-behind win, The Citadel was 0-18 when trailing at halftime. The Bulldogs trailed 47-42 heading into the locker room at Samford.
• The Citadel's 72 shooting percentage from the floor in the second half of Saturday's game is the first time the 'Dogs have shot 70 percent in a half since March 1, 2014.
• The Bulldogs hit just eight three-pointers in the win over Samford, marking the first time this season the 'Dogs have won a game without hitting at least 10 treys. The fewest threes prior to Saturday The Citadel had made in a win was 10 on Jan. 7 against VMI.
• Last season the Bulldogs had just five games with multiple players scoring at least 20 points. This year, The Citadel has posted 10 games with multiple 20-point scorers and five games with a 30-point scorer.
• The Citadel scored 60 points in the second half of the game at Samford, marking the 19th time this season the squad has posted at least 50 points in a half. The Citadel has also scored at least 100 points in a game nine times this season, something Coach Baucom's squad did just twice last year. Five of those 100-point games have come on the road.

Preston Parks now holds The Citadel's freshman record for points scored in a season. Parks passed former leader Cameron Wells' 432 points on Feb. 22 and currently has 482 points this season. He also ranks third among freshmen with 109 assists.
• Parks has been explosive for the Bulldogs this season and has led The Citadel in scoring in 13 games, including five straight. The Greenville, South Carolina, native has recorded 20 games in double figures, 13 games with at least 20 points and three 30-point games.
• The freshman's 37 points on Feb. 25 is tied for the second-highest single-game total among conference members in 2016-17. He also ranks fourth in the SoCon in scoring and first in scoring in conference play.
